Mace, born in New York City, currently resides in Tokyo where he continues to perfect his highly stylized illustrations and ballpoint pen graffiti works. Gaining notoriety as a freelance illustrator during the 80s, Mace's work graced the pages of Spin, The Village Voice, New York Times, New York Press, as well as spots on MTV. Mace has shown numerous times at 111 Minna, most recently in 1999 and 2000 where he exhibited "Wheels and Heels", a series of ballpoint drawings on commercial lithographs. For this exhibit he has produced a new series of large- scale originals and works on tile.
Ron English currently works out of New York, where his work has become well known for its heavily satirized view of modern culture and its icons. English also comes from an illustrative background; one that has taken a heavily subversive direction conveyed through vivid and striking imagery. Arguably, his actions as a billboard liberationist are those, which have drawn the most attention, creating "false" advertisements for Apple computers and Budweiser with Charles Manson and Jesus, respectively.
A feature article and interview with Ron English may be found in the current issue of Juxtapose magazine.

Urban Art Hip Hop Theme Workshops Help Inspire LA Teenagers
The HeArt Project develops year-round multi-disciplinary art workshops for
continuation L.A. Unified Schools
Los Angeles, CA: Exploring the cultural roots and current elements of Hiphop through the medium of graffiti art is the basis for Los Angeles urban artist, Man One, and his 11-week exploration art workshop for students of La Familia Continuation High School, 4909 Cesar Chavez; offered through Los Angeles' The HeArt Project.
The 10-year-old non-profit organization develops year-round workshops for high school students at L.A. Unified continuation schools whose art programs are nonexistent while inspiring youth with a form of productive instruction in the arts.
Man One is part of a group of professional artists chosen by the non-profit to conduct the workshops focusing on the history and elements of the multicultural youth movement Hiphop. Five artists are teaching five elements of Hiphop - theater, rap, turntables, dance, and graffiti - at five different continuation high schools. Man One's first of two 11-week sessions, which began late September running through late November, explores the history, cultural relevance and practice of graffiti art as an inspiration for self expression. The sessions culminate in a group mural on canvas. The mural, along with performances from the four other schools, will be presented in public on November 22 at The Ivy Substation in Culver City affiliated with Center Theater Group. Together the presentations will relate the history of Hiphop and its elements to an audience of over 100 students and community guests.
The program, which continues through June 2003, covers 10 school sites in LAUSD located in East L.A., South Central L.A., Downtown and the San Fernando Valley. Following the end of the first session, Man One will participate in a second workshop continuing on the theme of Hiphop from January to March 2003 at Victory Branch, 14546 Hamlin Street; a continuation high school in Van Nuys, Calif.

"From early morning, till late at night, all I could do is think about trains.
Trains, the way they move, the sounds they made, the smell they had
... and the paintings on them. I first recognized the trains, and what was on
them, when I was about 10, in 1971. I used to ride them, by myself, to meet
my mother at her job on 42nd St., and Grand Central Station. The colors
used to make me wonder what these things were and how they got there.
When I started to paint on the subways, I was 14, and it was 1975. As I
kept painting, I along with countless others, would take pictures for
ourselves. If you painted, you needed a camera just to keep the pictures
for yourself. There was never an idea of what was going to happen in
1980. Everything was for us, and no one else. ... But, as Graffiti became
popular, and the world recognized what was going on underground, the
pictures became treasures. If you asked, "How did they do those
paintings, and who did them?"... we had the answer ... it was us. These
pictures became our biographies ... they were real, and they were us ... out
of focus, blurry, cut off ...."
Crash, 2002
The show consists of 30 photographs of some of the trains that Crash painted during that period (76 -1982), and all the photos where taken by Crash himself. (They are all in limited edition.)

Whether it's tagged up mailboxes or a vase of sunflowers, Evan Hecox's distinct graphic palette captures the imagery in our field of vision and turns optics inside out. A multidimensional illustrator/artist, Evan unveils his latest scrum of gouache paintings inspired by visions of the Japanese capital: urban landscape paintings and Tokyo skyscrapers in sharp black, white and reds, plus block prints, and a limited edition screen print: these are just a sampling of the immaculate images on hand. His art depicts mood, shapes, and energy in an exacting post-modern environment while remaining accessible and authentic to the streets. In another life, Hecox created graphics for such skateboard companies as Chocolate and Girl.

Five San Francisco artists will be showing paintings and drawings.
The five artist's influences stem from graffiti, skate and S.F. street
culture, as well as zines and comic book illustrations and text.
A. Scooter Rudolph recently received the San Francisco Yerba Buena Museum's
"Young Talent Award."
Mark Gonzales has shown his art internationally and is considered one of the
world's most innovative skateboarder artists today. Gonzales was featured in
Spike Jonez's short film,"How They Get There." Gonzales did a performance
piece at the Stadiches Museum in Germany. While he skated through a half
pipe (wearing a fencing uniform) he was filmed by New York artist Cheryl Dunn.

Dzine has worked for years straddling the very thin boundary between art and music and for his first solo exhibition at moniquemeloche he will present a new body of paintings titled beat junkie, chop shop. Like a DJ addicted to beats-per-minute, Dzine samples and remixes both music and art history like a chop shop tech collecting stolen car parts to create fresh forms.
This self-taught artist was born Carlos Rolon (b. 1970) and adopted the tag name "Dzine" as a young teen. The name stuck but his graffiti style evolved into serious abstract painting infused with musical undertones fostered by his father's love of Salsa and his brother's interest in early House.
From album covers to paintings interpreting a certain track to cd/catalogue collaborative projects, Dzine is known internationally for his work with Yellow Productions, Silent Poets, Guidance Recordings, DJ CAM, and more. He has exhibited worldwide from Tokyo, Paris, London, San Juan, Nairobi, New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, to Iowa City! This past September, the MCA Chicago invited Dzine and the other members of JUBA Collective to have their first Artists-In-Residence program, which featured a site-specific installation sampler painted by Dzine.
Locally, many will recall his "Search for Love" 2001 collaboration with Judy Ledgerwood and DJ CAM at Gallery 312. Upcoming solo shows in 2003 include Candela Gallery, Puerto Rico; Rocket Gallery, Tokyo; and Galerie Valerie Cueto, Paris. Dzine opened his own recording studio (named La La Productions after the artist's grandmother) behind his painting studio and will release his first track in early 2003.

painted, cryptic, cartoon imagery juxtaposed with folksy text and found
objects such as discarded skate decks and window frames. Jim Houser is a
skateboarder who also designs skate decks for Toy Machine. He was included in
the show "East Meets West" at the Philadelphia Institute of Contemporary Art.
Rebecca Westcott (who recently wed Houser) will be showing artworks
featuring finely painted figuration of people and flowers also incorporating
text.
The Giant Electric
Jeff Soto and Matt Leines will show finely illustrated drawings and
paintings.
Matt Leines' primitive yet finely rendered drawings depict intricate
narratives of tigers, wizards and lighting bolts.

Flux is a multi-disciplinary arts series that travels from neighborhood to neighborhood, celebrating the region's greatest, but often overlooked attributes, artists and communities.
so basically flux goes into an area that doesn't normally draw a lot of people and takes out a space that is not being used. they go in and ready the space and invite a bunch of visual artists, performance artists, and musicians to participate in a one night event. it's a win win situation all the way around...the neighborhood gets people coming into it, the artists get to show their work and perform, and the atendees get to check out some great local art and get to drink as much as they want for $7 ($5 with a non-perishable food item)

The Italian American presence in Hip Hop culture has been little noted. Italian Americans were very much part of the early subway graffiti scene with artists such as Dondi (RIP) and CAVS. Contemporary turntablists Kid Capri, DJ Scribble, and DJ Muggs of Cypress Hill have achieved critical acclaim. Female performers Alicia Keys, Princess Superstar, and spoken word artist Ursula Rucker, whose Italian American identities are not usually marked, have made significant contributions to the larger Hip Hop culture. In recent years, Italian American MCs have emerged with a force to address themes of Italian American identity.
This symposium will explore aspects of creativity and representation by Italian American artists as they pertain to ethnicity, race, and gender within Hip Hop culture. This event will consist of two roundtable discussions with artists exploring the ways Hip Hop culture and identity are reproduced, negotiated, submerged or flaunted, the interrelationship between the media and Hip Hop, and the intertwined concepts of artistry and criminality.

"Street Attitudes 2002" is a graffiti convention that will be held in the heart of the city of Turin (Italy). Usually, events like these, are called jams, which in there various forms, have yet to include tyres of music, sport and art other than those encoded in the Hip Hop culture, where "writing", as graffiti is also know as, is accompanied strictly by rap music and brake dance.

The "Int. WallStreetMeeting" gaines huge reputation throughout all countries in europe. This fact inspired us to keep the spirit of the Meeting alive and to bring you the "Int. Meeting Of Styles", several Jams all around europe. It was a lot of work, we had to deal with a lot of troubles and collected important expiriences. Currently we are thinking about next year, even if we are still buisy with the latest projects.
In several cities in europe the local governments are running Anti-Graffiti-Campaigns based on "Zero-Tolerance" and "Broken-Windows" following increasing criminalization of Graffiti. These campaings led to a censorship of the Meeting in Copenhagen. Due to the Anti-Graffiti-Politics of the city of Berlin, we didnt get a permission for any spot. Even the "Mauerpark-Hall-Of-Fame" has been illegalized in the past weeks. Even if we tried hard the result is: no spot, no Meeting in Berlin.
But: we found an alternative! A cool spot at a bridge that connects the city of Wiesbaden with Mainz. Its called Br¸ckenkopf Mainz-Kastel. As the wallspace down there is limited we decided to put it in conncetion with the remaining walls at the Schlachthof in Wiesbaden.
The plan is:
07th of September, Demonstration for the Cultural-Park at Schlachthof. Meetingpoint: Mauritiusplatz 1400h, Wiesbaden-City
07th of September, Br¸ckenkopf-Jam (Mainz-Kastel), all disciplines starts 1600h, no public-painting possible due to limited wall-space.
08th of September, Schlachthof Wiesbaden, starts 1400h, public painting possible, no addiional programm
09th of September, Schlachthof Wiesbaden, starts 1400h, public painting possible, no additional programm
09th of September; Schlachthof Wiesbaden, Vernissage of "rEvolution" SprayCanArt-exhibiton, starts 2000h
runs until 15th of September, open daily from 1700-2200h
Graffiti: Seak, Daim, Tasek, Daddy Cool, Stohead, Desur, Neon, Won, Shame, Dome, Cowboy, Honsar, Enorm, Cheech, Can2, Viagrafik, Tasso, Akut, Kase, Esher (Germany), Hogre, MAC-Cru (France) Porno Stars (Spain), Duck (Belgium), Jazi TZP (Switzerland), Poker, Juice (Netherlands), Dephect 1 (USA), Hitnes (Italy), Local Heroes

This retrospective unveils the largest collection of Fairey's work ever shown, with 80 different poster designs illustrating the history of the Obey Giant Campaign. Opening on the same night in L.A. and S.F., this show is concurrent with his retrospective of the same title at the BLK/MKT gallery, located at 3780 Wilshire Blvd. #210, in Los Angeles.
If you've ever been hit with burning curiosity when confronted with the ubiquitous posters and stickers of the late wrestler Andre the Giant, this show will answer all of your questions. Looming larger than life, these images commanding us to "OBEY," are everywhere from local freeway underpasses to SOHO building facades and Tokyo rooftops.
Shepard Fairey began his sticker and wheat pasted poster campaign 13 years ago while a student at the Rhode Island School of Design. What he intended as a frivolous joke among friends has blown sky high into an international public art experiment.
One of Fairey's intentions behind bombarding us with his imagery is to make one think about the power of advertising, and how it has seeped into our culture to the point of complete over-saturation. Since big business is apt to follow trends, he has effectively begun to change the face of advertising itself.
The design company he founded, BLK/MRKT, capitalizes on the very issues they confront. Well known artists working for BLK/MRKT who share his approach and perspective include Evan Hecox, Dave Kinsey, Amanda Ayala and Justin Clark.

When Graffiti meets Ice
On August 31.... the Coldest day will hit the Hottest City in the Dirty South! Aerosol Warfare and DLG Ice Factory invite you to come chill in sub zero temperatures at the coolest art show you'll ever be a part of! bring your parkas, mittens, jackets and ear muffs...as we bring you artistic melding of urban culture from the ice age!
Like the Great Mammoths and Frozen Eskimo Mummies....All artwork has been carefully preserved within 300 blocks of Ice! Graffiti styles from some of Houston's top writer's meet the ice chainsaw of world renowned Ice Carver (Bronze Medal Winner).
A Writer Burns a wall..and eventually it's buffed, leaving only a memory of it's presence, Much like a Block of Ice that over time Melts away. Combining the two gives us Freezer Burn...and eventually the ice will melt and the art work will also erode aw well....completing the cycle.

Sheffield UK: August 20, 2002
Sheffield will experience a unique urban event on Sunday 25 August (Bank Holiday Sunday) when the NonStop Foundation stages 3DOM, a day-long festival of music, street arts and sports on Devonshire Green in the city centre.
Highlight of the whole event will be a performance by DJ and EastEnders star Goldie at The Corporation, Milton Street. The venue will be open from 9 pm to 3 am, and the rest of the 3DOM line-up will include DJ Noize, Prime Cuts, Mongoose, Semtex, DJ Mink, MCs E-LL and Power. Tickets for the 3DOM night time event cost £10 on the door.
Daytime activities, from 12 noon to 8 pm, are out of doors and free of charge. Skaters and breakers will be welcome all day on the open skate park and dance floor.
Massive canvases (16 feet x 8 feet) will provide graffiti artists including twice world champion Mode2, 3D king Chu and Sheffield's own Infinite Kreationz with the opportunity to create lasting pieces of detailed artwork. At the same time they will discuss and demonstrate the differences between genuine graffiti art as a valid means of creative expression and the graffiti writing or "tagging" that blights many an urban landscape.
Participants on the Cultural Development Programme (CDP), another unique NonStop initiative, will provide the daytime entertainment on Devonshire Green. These talented locals are honing their musical skills through the CDP, and 3DOM will give them the chance to showcase their talents to a live audience - another important part of their learning process.

The Katherine Gianaclis Park For The Arts (5690 Boulder Hwy. 702 451-8608) unleashes a collaboration of underground urban street art and contemporary art. Reception Saturday 7pm - 10pm.
K.D. Matheson paints ethnically inspired images reminiscent of H.R. Giger's hybrids of the organic, the mechanical, and the alien.
Iceberg Slick is best known for his Jamurai animated films & comics inspired by the late Goseki Kojima and Japanese Anime comics. This exceptional cartoonist has toured his works in International comic/cons and has developed an underground devoted following. Similar to self-published urban artist Vezun. Both embracing pop and hip hop culture. Vezun is a visual visionary who has established himself as a noteworthy painter from Las Vegas to Seattle.
Then there is Dray. A self-taught artist from Los Angeles whose paintings have been collected by Alanis Morissette, Coolio and Quincy Jones. Dray's work is a mixture of cubism and abstract expressionism, but with the intense colors and emotion of graffiti art.
Art, religion, science, consciousness and truth are words The Proffesor 8000% uses to describe his creations. Exhibiting sound, light and color, this artist's work is without a doubt the product of a beautiful mind.

Public Life is an alternative venue indeed. Buried beneath the shadow of the Hawksmoor Church in what used to be Spitalfields' public conveniences, the venue hosts regular out-there electronic evenings. With much of the original tile-work still in place, electronic beats bounce off the wall and heighten the ambient effect.

If you were in Brooklyn or Manhattan around 1969 - 1975 you might remember the subway writer FLINT. FOR THOSE WHO DARE. His name stood out because it was neatly lettered, strategeically placed and had the impact of an Madison Ave advertisement. FLINT is one of New York's original taggers, one of the Old Skool Kingz who was there before the big Aerosol Art explosion, just before Masterpieces and Top to Bottoms were invented by his friends.
FLINT has on display some examples of his name based art. Just like back in the day, he still draws on everything including lampshades, vases and musical instruments. FLINT is known though out the world for the sayings that follow his name and also for his day-to-day photographic diary of his own life.

Bovendien is er elke vrijdag een 'lounge warm up meeting before going to the clubs or parties' met dj K-Nine (Pukkelpop, Guerilla)
(NL versie momenteel niet beschikbaar) BIOGRAPHY DUCK Alvin Eeckels (28) started out doing graffiti back in '88 and already had a successful skatboarding career behind him, joining the likes of Hosoi on the ramp.
His first work that attracted some attention albeit from the wrong people- was a thorough 'restyling' of Galgenweel swimming pool. After being released from custody he gave up on doing random bombing and started to do small but legal jobs for companies (Coca Cola, Kipling, Quick), factories (Massive), stores (Fish & Chips) and events : Laundry Day, Visions, The Zone, Antwerpen '93 (underneath Central Station), Jeugdkinderfestival (where he not only did some of the backdrops but also performed in the film 'Kameleon', in which notorious director Robbe De Hert actually co-starred). He was even asked to do the reception area of the Antwerp police headquarters !
He also did several work shops (schools, youth services, Š) and exhibitions (in Antwerp, France, Amsterdam, Breda, Š) one-off projects (designing a shirt for Artware) and also did a few jobs in other Belgian towns such as Brussels (Recyclart) and Ghent (Limits) Duck abroad : Germany (spraying half of Munich with Loomit, Daim and Darco + Dortmund with Mode2), Thailand (doing a hiphopclub with local writers, some guesthouses and a tattoo shop), an Indian hotel, Honduras (restaurant) and some odd jobs in Holland.
Over the years he has expanded his working materials: canvas, the human body and computer graphs to name but three he actually co-designed the Raptoms, animation figurines that will shortly be used in a film by Imagination in Motion which will be distributed by 20th Century Fox. Currently he's working on 3D and artificial intelligence. He tried to explain what all that was about, but not quite grasping it, we recommend you contact the guy himself. He's also going to work on our very own site, which will be online shortly. Send him mail at ducksta@wanadoo.be
Duck wants to organise yet more exhibitions and do all sorts of challenging, creative jobs, with the good ol' spray can as well as with digital gizmos and anything in between. Record sleeves, flyers & posters, special FX, interior design (private as well as stores), backdrops for concerts and festivals (how about those ugly skatestages ?) , live-perfomances, interfaces for websdesign, digital character design and collaborations with other artists.

The art of skateboard graphics is by definition temporary. Boards are designed to ride, and the graphics slide off in the process. Still, in recent years skateboard art has risen from commercial-oriented graphics to fine art. At "Four on the Floor," Fifty24SF Gallery presents a display of works from eight accomplished skateboarders and artists. Each artist will present a commercially produced skateboard next to a hand-painted board.
WHO: Fifty24SF and Upper Playground with artists Chris Wright, Nick Neubeck, Jeremy Fish, Bigfoot, Giant One, Mat O'Brien, Jesse MacMillian and Mark Gonzales.
WHAT: An opening reception and show featuring the creations of nine accomplished skateboard artists.
WHERE: Fifty24SF
228 Fillmore Avenue
San
Francisco, CA 94117
WHEN: Opening reception: June 20th, 7 p.m. - 10 p.m. with music from DJ Ted Shred. "Four on the Floor" continues through July 21. Fifty24SF is open Wednesday through Sunday, 1 - 7 p.m.
ABOUT Fifty24SF: Dedicated to showing a mix of up-and-coming and established artists, Fifty24SF is owned and operated by Upper Playground. Past exhibits have showcased important post-graffiti artists and illustrators including Ricky Powell, Dalek, Shepard Fairey, KAWS, LEE, Sam Flores, and Zephyr. From the gallery comes a line of apparel that carries the Fifty24SF brand name and features the designs of the innovative exhibitors.

Attention: Sticker exchange! April - July 1, 2002
In the upcoming summer months, begining in chicago and then in colombus ohio, there will be a project started where normal everyday newspaper dispensers on the street will be transformed into dispensers of pro-graffiti informaion. the dispensers will vend brochures which play with the language of buffsquad and graffiti blaster city fact sheets- things like "how to spot a vandal" and "10 steps to avoiding graffiti" and "stopping GRAFFITI 101". things like this are often dispersed by anti graffiti community groups and city streets and sanitation departments. the goal with this project is to make a brochure which seems similar and strange enough to look like one of those antigraffiti brochures but will infact encourage the art of graffiti appriciation, rethinking how space is used, and what peoples relationship to graffiti is.
*THIS IS IMPORTANT*
Included in the brochure will be a collection of hello my name is stickers. This is the begining of an oppertunity to get stickers up other places and have people pay attention to them that might usually walk past them. The brochure will encourage the person reading it to take the sticker and put it up. These stickers will also reach the hands of other writers in other citys who are interested in getting them up.
We want yous stickers! Please send us your standard sized "hello my name is stickers" ASAP. Tell other people! We are going to be doing this in several citys and are encouraging people from all over the world to participate in this exchange.

This is a call to all artists living in (or able to travel to) the greater Pittsburgh area. Any artists interested in graffiti/mural work, or other any other kind of installation and site-specific work are encouraged to participate. This project centers on a space that I have recently acquired permission to work with. For those that are not familiar with the local history of Pittsburgh there is an area between Bellevue and Sewickley that is the old Dixmont State Mental Hospital. It was founded in 1859 and closed in 1984 - and is now almost certainly scheduled for demolition (to implant commerical-walmart-shlock). There are two primary areas: the main boiling complex up on the hill and the old power plant down on the boulevard (Rt 65).
Between the power plant and the main building is a 1/4+ mile long steam tunnel that runs pipes for heating. When the buildings would be demolished and the area is filled, the tunnel will be sealed off and buried away in the hillside. I am trying to find graffiti, mural, and other installation artists who are interested in putting work inside of this tunnel - essentially turning it into a time capsule. I'm hoping to primarily find local artists due to the historic nature of the space, but anyone who wishes to travel to the area to participate are more than welcome. I have secured permission to perform this project on the grounds, so those involved should be able to avoid legal concerns. Contact information is provided below for those wishing to participate and learn more.
Because of the dangers involved in the space the general public will not be able to visit the space at any time. An intimate viewing could likely be arranged for certain individuals and the press. The demolition work is scheduled to begin June 1, which will be the last day the property is in the control of the present owner.
The tunnel is approximately 6 1/2 ft tall, and 4+ ft from one wall to the steam pipes on the opposite wall.

In the development of my art I have come to realize that the certain concepts are capable of being explored on a scale that is beyond any individual's experience or lifetime, as their full impact is limited by that which impels social forces. To this end I have sought to investigate this concept through the creation of a time capsule whose life is longer than is reasonable to guess when it would next be discovered. In organizing this time capsule I intend to create an object that is of impacting significance, to the culture of today as well as that which would one day reopen it. On an individual level it will also stand as a developmental anchor for those that take part - to reference their own growth and movement. The region, however, will retain it as a keepsake; as the marker of a certain period in its development.

Portland, Oregon based artists Vanessa Renwick and Bill Daniel are touring the western U.S. with a program of their experimental and documentary films and videos. Daniel will present "The Girl on the Train in the Moon", a hobo campfire/video installation that is a record of his investigation into the secret world of freight riding and hobo graffiti. Renwick will screen a 70 min. program of her work including films about folkart, hitchhiking, and rodeos. Her work explores the possibility of poetry in contemporary society, sometimes providing a vicious, satirical commentary on that society.

The Other Side of the Fence features the paintings, drawings and installation of this Bay Area-based artist. Christopher Ruess explores what he describes as "relationships between the man-made and natural worlds. This not only includes the tragic collision of the two but also the awkward ways in which one informs the other." His sprawling installations of rambling wall drawings, photos of crude graffiti, and mixed-media paintings on found wood and paper investigate urban phenomena as natural events.
Los Angeles based painter Chris Yormick will show paintings and sculptural installations. His highly stylized work exemplifies Yormick's internal language and form, with influences as far ranging as graffiti, skate graphics, Russian design and calligraphy.

Graffiti: Art or Vandalism?
Beyond typical "tagging" on public and private properties, the graffiti culture is in fact, rich and dynamic. It is a complex blend of hip-hop music, breakdance, and art through graffiti. Artary Gallery, a non-profit gallery space, has offered its wall space to a young group of local graffiti writers, giving the public an opportunity to experience graffiti culture and to challenge preconceptions of the "graffiti menace" through their pieces.
Darebin City Council, Victorian Association of Youth Communities, Reservoir Breakdance and Platform Youth Theatre support this culturally significant project.

Intervention is a project from the new Sozo Collective connecting Birmingham's architectural heritage with international contemporary art practice. Curated by artist builder Dave Pollard it will transform a terrace of 5 Victorian mansions in Handsworth's Westminster Road into a temporary exhibition and performance space. This will involve internal and external structural alterations to the mansions which are currently empty prior to demolition. The Midlands Area Housing Association has granted access to the Sozo Collective to work on the terrace and work starts on site in December 2001, opening to the public in February 2002.
