Getting Started with Netscape Navigator

You'll need to know a few basic Netscape navigational tools in order to view local Web documents (those that were installed on your system along with Netscape). This page tells you about those tools.

Warning: Most of the buttons and menu items you see at the top of your Netscape window require a connection to the Internet. Don't use these buttons until you know you have that connection.

Toolbar Buttons

The Netscape Toolbar buttons provide control of Web pages. (If the toolbar isn't showing, choose Show Toolbar from the Options menu.) Until you connect to the Internet, you should just use the Toolbar Buttons listed below:

Directory Buttons

The Directory Buttons allow access to various directories on the Internet. (If the Directory Buttons aren't showing, choose Show Directory Buttons from the Options menu.) The Welcome button is the only one of these you should select until you connect to the Internet.

  • Welcome - This button works the same as the unmodified Home button; that is, it takes you back to the Silicon Graphics welcome page.
