The ETO Newsgroups offer the possibility for Trade Points to access ETOs previously broadcasted via email in one unique location and accessible via a Master Index to facilitate navigation and search.

The ETO Newsgroup uses Netscape Newsgroup software which provides an unique and easy-to-use interface for reading, responding, posting to ETO Newsgroup product/services categories. The diagram below shows what the user sees when the Newsgroup button is first pressed. Newsgroups are entered by pressing the title of a subscribed Newsgroup. Pressing "View all Newsgroups" allows the user to explore a list of basic topics and isolating a specific Newsgroup.

After subscribing to the ETO Newsgroups, the following screen will show with the number of ETOs for each ETO product and service (based on the HS classification). Users also have access to the number of ETOs Unreaded versus the Total of ETOs for each specific product group.

After selecting one of the listed groups, the software show the breakdown on each group and in the right windows the description on each ETO by Sender and Subject.

From this window, users can access individual ETOs selecting a market or an opportunity and accessing the next level which provides full interoperability between the user and the ETO source (at company level).

From the previous selection users can go to the individual ETO which is already email tagged and ready to be converted to the EDIFACT message if required or posted to another newsgroup (at the Trade Point level), mail to an external user, forward to anoter community and asnwer the ETO to the NewsGroup. The possibilities of interoperability are several as from the ETO users can also access Home Pages of the company posting the ETOs (if specify in the ETO structure) or send a mail directly to the company.
