TPI BACKGROUND

The Leophairatana family established TPI in 1978. It has subsequently grown to become an important group of companies engaged in the production of a wide range of essential materials. Today TPI comprises several affiliates, among which TPI Polene Public Company Limited, and TPI Concrete Co., Ltd. are prominent.

Administrative offices in Bangkok oversee TPI's extensive operations, while the group's main production facility is situated in Rayong, on Thailand's Eastern Seaboard. In addition, TPI Polene has a cement plant in Saraburi.

As a pioneer in the Thai petrochemical industry, TPI was the first producer of low density polyethylene in South East Asia. The company was also a prime supporter of the Thai government's National Petrochemical Public Company Limited (NPC on the Eastern Seaboard and has been a major investor in the project since its inception in the early 1980s.

With steady expansion over the past several years, TPI now produces several types of plastic pellets in response to market demands. These materials have varied and distinct properties which serve a variety of purposes.

Since its establishment in 1978,TPI's Group is has become Thailand's largest producer of plastic materials and pellets with total assets of more than Baht 48 billion and estimated 1994 annual revenues of more than Baht 12 billion. The company's products are used in a wide variety of consumer and industrial products, including bottles, bags and containers, automotive parts, television components, insulation, construction materials, etc.

Principal TPI plastics include low density polyethylene (LDPE), high density polyethylene (HDPE), polypropylene (PP), acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS),expandable polystyrene(EPS),polyurethane(PU),polyol, polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA), and polystyrene (PS).
