Vesilahti is a pictoresque small town in the southwest of Tampere Region, only 30 kilometers away from Tampere. Vesilahti has a long history: the first ascertained information about the catholic congregation of Vesilahti dates back to the year 1346. Therefore, in 1996 Vesilahti will celebrate its 650th anniversary with a number of interesting events including concerts, theatre and art and handicraft exhibitions.

Vesilahti has unique wild nature. A remarkable part of the nature within the borders of Vesilahti has been declared valuable. Most of the villages are situated along lake shores. You can take your own hiking tour or join an organized one in the wild forests around the villages. You'll have a chance to admire magnificient lake views, and perhaps you'll also run across rare birds or plants. The natural beauty of the municipality has found expression in the local handicrafts tradition. Vesilahti is one of the areas where a considerable amount of old rugs have been collected.

The Laukko Manor House dating back to the Viking Age is one of the most famous manors in Finland.
