Facts in BriefLuopioinen is a pictoresque rural municipality on the Lake Kukkia, 60 kilometres from Tampere, capital of the region, and 160 kilometers to the north of Helsinki. There are 2600 inhabitants in the area that covers altogether 392 squarekilometres, 74 squarekilometers of which are lakes. The municipality aims at developing its commercial and industrial potential. For this purpose, over 10,000 squaremeters of industrial premises have been built in the area. The municipality also supports companies willing to build sites of their own in the area.
Holiday making in Luopioinen
Due to its ideal location around the Lake Kukkia, the municipality attracts lots of
holidaymakers during summer time. There are around 2000 holiday residences in the
area at the moment. In Rajalansaari there is a well-equipped
camping site. In addition to the numerous shores suitable for swimming in the outer
villages, there is a public beach in the center of Luopioinen.
You can join organized tours around the area. The popular Sightseeing Tour of Kukkia
takes you to the Lake Kukkia to enjoy the fabulous view over the vast lake; the tour also
invites you to the traditional Finnish buffet table with local and national specialities,
and in the afternoon to coffee table at Tervaniemi holiday center. The Rowing-boat Tour around
the Lake Kukkia is aimed for groups and includes meals and sauna-bathing.
For nature lovers, there are organized hunting trpis, hiking tours and berry picking
and mushrooming trips in Laipanmaa forests. For wintertime holiday making there is the Slalom Center at Sappee with five slopes and
four elevators. The three-day Music Festival of Aitoo takes place in July. Other summer events: Open Air
Dance Festival, Kukkia Open Tennis Tournament.
