ÄETSÄ
Sama suomeksi
ÄETSÄ is situated in the green valley of Kokemäenjoki river. The surroundings are well looked after and sparsely built. This cosy community provides its 5000 residents with opportunities to earn a livelihood and the necessary services. Most of the buildings have been built near the Kokemäenjoki river banks.
Äetsä is an industrial town, where the skills of hand are part of both history and present. World-famous bags, wallets, luggages and other leather products are made here. Despite its relatively short history Äetsä has been named "the bag-district of Finland". Over a hundred smallish factories and firms operate here. Äetsä's location ensures them first-class transportation connections. Äetsä offers you the perfect environment in which to start a business, cheap building sites and inexpensive accommodation.
Aurajärvi and Kiimajärvi recreational areas give you excellent opportunities to admire the unspoiled nature. The versatile views from Kokemäenjoki river banks, hilly terrain and the traditional houses of the river valley offer the visitor an unforgettable experience. Among the sights is the longest suspension bridge in Finland, which reaches over the Kokemäenjoki river. The bridge is 228 metres long. You can admire the untamed Kilpikoski rapids. Äetsä has also historical sights with cultural importance: in Keikyä open air museum you can see "laappamylly", an old planing works used to make shingles that was operated on water-power.
