Subject: [*] California Copland Folders

Abstract:

California Copland Folders v1.0

The style of Copland folders has been as varied and debated since screen shots
from the aborted "Copland MacOS 8" appeared in magizines in early 1986. Soon,
MacOS 8 will be out, including the long promised system customization features.
For now are some folders that I created in the "Boris" Copland Style.

What's in this collection?

Included are twenty (20) different MacOS 7 Icons in standard folder pasted
format. Some folders were created by others, specifically Boris, and are
included in this collection for accuracy.

Subject: [*] ClipStation 1.1d3

ClipStation is a bridge between the cool new Drag Manager and the old
Clipboard. You can drag a clipping into its Clipboard window, then paste
it into a non-drag-savvy application. Or conversely, you can copy an item
to the Clipboard, then drag it out of ClipStation's window to somewhere
else.

ClipStation also displays QuickTime movies and QuickDraw GX graphics on the
Clipboard. And it supports some interesting functions via AppleScript.

This release incorporates several small improvements to dragging, zooming,
and magnified/reduced views of QuickDraw GX graphics. It also fixes a
problem with the 1.1d2 version I released last week, which could cause
crashes when trying to write old-style clipboard files.

Please replace your existing file info-mac/gui/clip-station-11d1.hqx
with this one, and also disregard the 1.1d2 update I previously submitted.

Thank you.

This is D=E9cor version 3.0.4, a minor update to my background
image utility.

If you don't know D=E9cor, let me say it is a very popular extension
which lets you replace the dull desktop pattern with an image of your
choice. It's very easy to use. It's $10 shareware - try it out!

The main changes since 3.0.3 are:
 - D=E9cor won't wake up a sleeping hard disk to change images
 - The "Apple event not handled" error should disappear
 - The documentation should print properly.

This is the English version. D=E9cor is also available in French,
German and Japanese.

Kaleidoscope 1.7 - June 25, 1997. By: Greg Landweber, Fred Bass, and Ed Voas.
Kaleidoscope is a shareware (US$20) control panel that completely overhauls your
Mac's user interface using plug-in color scheme files. There is an "Apple
Grayscale" scheme that looks like Mac OS 8 (and Greg's Aaron extension), a
"BeBox" scheme that gives you the BeOS style interface, as well as several other
unique color schemes that will make your mouth water every time you think about
turning on your Mac! There are also hundreds of third party color schemes
available from around the world. Kaleidoscope 1.7 adds support for patterns in
the menu bar, it also fixes ugs with Global Village's FAX software, Wunderbar,
Church Windows, Microsoft Applications, and The American Heritage Dictionary
(version 3.0). This version also fixes a bug with irregularly shaped scroll bar
thumbs that was introduced in 1.6.

Subject: [*] MULTIV

MULTIV performs exploratory analysis and randomization testing on
univariate and multivariate data, accepting qualitative, quantitative
and mixed data types. MULTIV offers several options of resemblance
measures, ordination and cluster analysis. Randomization tests can
compare variables, or sampling units under complete randomized, block or
multifactorial designs. Text files, dendrograms and scatter diagrams
show the results. The user manual comes with the program. The
application, written in C, is a 'fat binary' running in native mode on
Power Macintosh. MultivMinor is identical to the full version of MULTIV,
except that it can process a maximum data matrix of 400 data elements
(sampling units x variables).

Subject: [*] Neatnik 1.0.1

Neatnik neatens up your Mac Finder desktop by setting the location, size and
"view-by" characteristics of folder windows. These characteristics can all be
set by hand, of course, but Neatnik allows you to batch-process the contents
of a folder (including all levels of enclosed folders), or an entire disk.
The folder window locations can be set to offset from their "parent"
(containing) folder's location, so that successive levels of folders will
open to "cascading", successively-offset locations on your desktop.

Some word processors and other applications have a "Stack Windows" function
that arranges the application's open windows in this manner. Neatnik adds
this capability to the Finder, but effects the position of all folders within
the folder or disk you select, whether their windows are currently open or
not.

Some might be inclined to doubt that the introduction of Neatnik will
revolutionize Computing As We Know It, and perhaps rightly so. But it would
be a mistake to dismiss Neatnik too lightly. As the bulk of data that we all
have to contend with increases exponentially, any tool that helps us to
organize our handling of that data becomes increasingly useful, even vital.
Neatnik is one such tool.

Certain specific groups of users will find Neatnik particularly helpful.
Those whose work involves a great deal of folder-navigation -- perhaps on
disks received from other users -- will find Neatnik an indispensable tool
for keeping things... well... neat! Producers of CD-ROM and other on-disk
publications could also use Neatnik to process the master copy of their disks
before duplication, to ensure that the disk's folders will open in orderly
and predictable locations on the end user's desktops.

Neatnik was designed by Ted Van Duyn. Ted contracted Karl Bunker to implement
the design, and then generously gave the copyright to the finished product
back to Karl so that Neatnik could be distributed to the Macintosh community.

Neatnik entirely free. Users who would like to be informed of future releases
of Neatnik should consider it "emailware" and register by sending their name
and e-mail address to Karl Bunker.

Neatnik requires the scriptable Finder, which is part of System 7.5 and
later. This is version 1.0.1 of Neatnik. This update fixes a bug in v1.0
that could
cause crashes when trying to set the preferences on 68K Macs.

Subject: [*] O(S) CANADA!

Are you a Canadian, or a Canadian at heart? Are you also using a
Macintosh that pretends your country doesn't exist? I'm referring to such
minor examples as the Date and Time control panel, where so many
countries are represented, exept Canada. Or how about the blatant
misspellings of "Colour"? We've been taken for granted as a distinct
market, and I'm sick of it! That's what started O(S) Canada!

This is a suite of system patches, icons, desktop patterns, background
screens and system sounds that will firmly entrench your Mac in the True
North. Unlike other "appearance managers", they don't take up any
additional RAM, instead merely patching existing System resources. I hope
you enjoy them.

The System patch requires that you have System 7.5.5 installed, although
everything else should work on any Macintosh. Support has not been tested
on System 7.6 or versions of System 7 (prior to 7.5).

O(S) Canada! is shareware. That means you are free to evaluate the
package for a brief period, after which you are expected to pay the $5
fee. This suite may also be distributed freely, may be included on CD
ROMs, as long as it is in whole, not part.

Further documentation can be found in the Read Me, eh? file that is
included.

Subject: [*] QuickNote 1.1

File name......: QuickNote 1.1
Date of release: 6/23/97

Have you ever needed to jot down a note quickly and be able to easily
find it later? Ever wanted to copy a selection of text while web
browsing for later reading without copying and pasting between
applications or saving the text to a file? QuickNote can do these
things and more at the touch of a key (which will instantly bring up a
text editor) without having to leave the application you are in!

Of course, you'll be able to hit another key at any time that will bring
up a list of all your notes, which you can edit, delete, search,
replace, print and move from category to category (create as many
categories as you like) with ease! QuickNote lets you do all standard
text editing including changing fonts, styles, sizes, color, etc.
Another extremely handy feature allows you to select text from any note
and have QuickNote automatically paste the text directly into any text
document you are working on.

New features added in version 1.1: Color Menu, support for Internet
config & ICeTEe, smart quotes, fixed Kaleidoscope bug with scroll bar,
replace all, can now drag over menu titles, several bug fixes and added
many new PlugIns (Capitalize Sentences, Capitalize Words, Convert %Hex
[e.g., %09 = Tab], Convert CRs to CR/LFs, Convert CRs to LFs, Convert
LFs to CRs, Convert spaces to 1 space, Make lowercase, Make Smart
Quotes, Make Smart Quotes Dumb, Make UPPERCASE, Phone Letters to
Numbers, Phone Number Dialer, Strip <html tags>, Strip Control
Characters, Strip CR/LFs, Strip CRs, Strip Leading Spaces & Strip LFs)!

Some uses for QuickNote: * bring up a text editor instantly with one
keypress! * copy selected text from any application with one key stroke
and store it for later reading or editing * keep an on-line journal of
daily activities * keep a To Do list * keep commonly used text clippings
to be able to paste into any application * grab a note or selection of
text from any category without having to leave the application you're in
with a keystroke!
