GEOBox 2 ppc (german) is the latest german version of the number-one
shareware desktop mapping tool for Macintosh computers. GEOBox 2 follows
the tradition of GEOCAD. GEOBox allows the user to create maps based on
GEOBox's own coordinates or on cbd-coordinates from CIA world mapping
program, which are available for free and cover the entire world with more
than 15,000,000 coordinates. The object database can easily been extended
by the user. The layer concept of GEOBox allows the user to create overlays
of different object types and representations, such as grid lines,
coastlines, rivers and whatever should be plotted. GEOBox 2 is shareware,
and you may use it free for 14 days, then you have to pay the shareware fee
of US$30,-
A localized english version of GEOBox is also available.

Changes in GEOBox 2 (compared to GEOCAD 1.2.7):
- Custom object support added
- Rotated Text implemented
- Improved performance and stability
- Improved layer cache and memory management
- Major and minor bugfixes
- Applied an html-styled documentation

System requirements:
- Power Macintosh (ppc)

When composing a website, many elements come back, like a standard
banner, or
the same footer, etc. In traditional html, you'd have to copy&paste these
elements over and over again in the individual pages. An update
nightmare!

Beyond HTML allows you to:
- use include files
- use macro definitions
- conditional compilation
- tidbits, like: C-style comments, automatic modification date, special
characters,..

Beyond HTML is implemented as a MetroWerks' CodeWarrior Plugin. CW Pro 2
or higher is required.

You are allowed to put the archive on a CD. A manual is included.

ChecksQuick1.1.sit

ChecksQuick 1.1 is a HyperCard stack useful for writing out checks using
checks that you tear out of your own checkbook. It requires HyperCard
Player 2.2 or higher. This version fixes a bug which effected registered
users, and makes it easier to stop printing.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ChecksQuick(TM) 1.1 Copr. 1998 Bruce A. Pokras - All rights reserved worldwide

Have lots of bills to pay? Write out all of the checks for those bills with
just a few mouse clicks using checks that you tear out of your checkbook!
Enter the names, amounts and account numbers for all of your recurring
bills into ChecksQuick just once. When it is time to pay some bills, just
select the ones you need, put the checks into your printer, and click
"Print." ChecksQuick keeps a running total of the number of checks that you
will need, and the total amount that you are paying.

The only thing that you will need to adjust from month-to-month is the
amount for your variable bills, such as gas, electric and telephone.
However, you only need to adjust the numerical amount. ChecksQuick
automatically translates the numerical amount into words! ChecksQuick also
automatically fills in the current date on all checks, unless you choose to
use a custom date.

Export and import features are available to registered users to create or
use tab-delimited text files in conjunction with spreadsheets or accounting
programs. Has a field for entering expense categories.

Requires: HyperCard(R) Player 2.2 or higher (or equivalent); inkjet printer
which can feed paper the size of your checks (see instructions for more
info); a Mac having a 68030 processor or faster is preferred

Shareware $10. May be registered worldwide through the Kagi payment service

Introducing the thoughtful Command-Trash. Command-Trash (which is
compatible with Mac OS 8) updates the Finder, enabling a "Cmd-T"
trash-emptying feature that'll make you wonder why Apple didn't think of
it.

Command-Trash updates resources in the Finder and System files. It is
strongly recommended that you start your Macintosh (or compatible) from
an alternate startup disk (other than your main hard drive) before using
any such updater.

Purchase of Command-Trash for $5 removes all "$"s, and entitles
purchasers to ALL future updates.

Subject: [*] Dominoes 1.1

Due the overwhelming response, I've updated Dominoes. This new version tightens
up some of the graphics, includes the option for an easier computer
opponent, and
removes some needless dialogs.

For those of you just tuning in: Dominoes is an implementation of the game of
"Domino Muggins", a version of Dominoes that has a scoring system based on
multiples of 5. Easy to learn, tough to put down, fun for the entire family.

Postcardware: if you like it, keep it, copy it around as much as you like. Put
it on a disk and kick around the back garden - it's all good. If you really
like it, send me a postcard.

Requires a mac running at least System 7 (is System 8 compatible), on at
least a 68020. Uses colour, but should run fine on those one or two
black and
white machines out there.

Subject: [*] Dvorak Lefty keyboard layout

The Why
As a lefty, I found the Dvorak layout a little less useful in building
speed. So I created the Dvorak Lefty layout. I popped the keys on my
PowerBook 1400c and arranged them in a mirror image of the Dvorak layout,
provided by Dvorak International (thanks, guys). I then used ResEdit to
create the KCHR resource, remapping all the keys to the new layout
(including the option & shift-option characters).
I never learned to touch-type, but have managed to get around 40 wpm
staring at the keyboard. I have been able to catch up to that with less
finger strain with this layout.

The What
This is a horizontally flipped version of the ANSI Standard Dvorak layout.
The Dvorak Lefty layout is a simply KCHR resource created with
ResEdit. It is System 7 compatible and should create no problems or
conflicts with any software. This layout is FREE. Copy, distribute, and
post it as you please. I do ask that the layout, the KeyCaps screenshot,
and this Read Me file be distributed together. Also, this layout may not be
sold, except that a reasonable distribution fee may be requested when
necessary. Share and enjoy.

Subject: [*] English-Polish Dictionary (Demo) - language learning

The 'English-Polish Dictionary' is a dictionary for the 'Verbs & Nouns' and
'V&N Lookup' programs. It will be useful to Poles who are learning English
and to English speakers who are learning Polish. The Demo version consists
of 6,600 English words (letters a to c). The complete version consists of
32,000 English words. I am continually improving and enlarging this
dictionary.

The 'Verbs & Nouns' application allows you to add new entries and modify
the existing entries, to add comments to every word, search for the English
word or its Polish translation, and do translation exercises.

With 'V&N Lookup' you can translate English text into Polish
(word-for-word), search for English or Polish words, check spelling, and
add comments to existing words.

You can download the latest version of 'Verbs & Nouns' and 'V&N Lookup'
from Info-Mac mirror sites. They are located in the directory

Guillotine is a drop box that "decapitates" those ugly all caps DOS-like
filenames. Just drop the offending files/folders on it, and the names will
become all lowercase with the first letter of each word capitalized. Guillotine
processes the complete contents of dropped folders. To make filenames all caps
or all lowercase, just choose the appropriate item on the Options menu. Note:
you will have to close andreopen the folder for the new name(s) to appear in the

Finder. (MacOS 8 does not have this problem.) Guillotine requires System
7 or later. It is a fat binary for optimal performance on PowerMacintoshes
and 68K Macs.

New in 1.0b1 are commands in the Help menu to e-mail the author or visit
Guillotine's web page (this feature requires Internet Config).

Subject: [*] THE BLOCK 2.0J - Powerful Macintosh Password Protection

Marc Mennigmann releases THE BLOCK 2.0 Japanese

Iserlohn, Germany -- June 26, 1998 -- Marc Mennigmann today announced the
release of the Japanese version of THE BLOCK v2.0, a popular password
security application for Macintosh computers.

What is THE BLOCK?
==================
THE BLOCK is a powerful password protection system for Macintosh
computers.

Unlike other password protection systems, it will not accept real
passwords. To log in to a computer protected by THE BLOCK you need to go
through a two-step process. First you need to type a Password Key, which
is a key combination similar to the Finder's Copy or Paste shortcuts
[command+c] or [command+v]. The second step is to click with the mouse on
the shutdown button on the on-screen dialog or, depending on the
preferences you set, to press the "esc" key on your keyboard.

A big part of THE BLOCK's security comes from the illusion that a real
password is needed. If intruders are not aware of how THE BLOCK works,
they will always choose the wrong approach. If they are aware, THE BLOCK
will still be as protective as every other password system because there
are many possible Password Keys and there is an option to disable the
shift key at startup. A Password Key can consist of any of the four
modifiers (command, alt, control or shift) and another key on your
keyboard, including the cursor keys, the F-keys and the page navigation
keys.

THE BLOCK is US$10 shareware. It is available from Marc Mennigmann's web
site and all major Macintosh shareware archives and ftp sites. Version
2.0 is a free upgrade to registered users of any earlier version.

System Requirements: Any Apple Macintosh or clone with at least a 68020
CPU running MacOS System 7.1 or later.

What is new in THE BLOCK 2.0?
=============================
Password Keys can contain multiple modifiers (command, option, control
and shift). F-keys, cursor keys or page navigation keys can also be used
as part of the Password Key.

The application used to set up the preferences, called "THE BLOCK Setup",
has been completely rewritten to be compatible with all Macs running
System 7.1.

The entire user interface has been redesigned to make THE BLOCK's

Subject: [*] Verbs & Nouns 2.0.3 - foreign language learning

Here is the new version of the 'Verbs & Nouns' application - 2.0.3

'Verbs & Nouns' is an application for practising inflection, translation
and pronunciation at the level of single words. Features include the
opportunity to do inflection exercises, and translation exercises in
both directions; to record and play sound for single words; and to do
exercises based on sound or pictures.
The program keeps a record of exercises, and identifies the words that
the student has difficulty with. Along with the program, you need a
module for the target language concerned. The program can also be used
as an authoring tool to write your own modules of inflected words for
any language. A built-in 'inflection-generator' simplifies the addition
of these words. A 'Find' feature allows the modules to be used as
bilingual dictionaries.

Ready-made modules are already available for certain languages. You can

Subject: [*] Web Confidential 1.0 - a password organizer

Web Confidential is an intuitive, easy-to-use program for
managing user IDs, passwords, registration numbers, and the like. Thanks
to the use of a number of advanced features of the Mac operating system,
Web Confidential can be used in close conjunction with popular Mac
Internet software, such as Netscape Navigator, Explorer and Eudora.

While Web Confidential is suitable for a wide variety of personal data,
from creditcard numbers to serial numbers, Alco Blom designed Web
Confidential particularly for the World Wide Web in mind. "Increasing
numbers of Web sites maintain some form of user registration," points
out Blom. "You may not realize it, but in the course of time you may
registered at a couple of dozen sites. Do you remember the passwords
you entered for all of them?"

Web Confidential allows Web surfers to store URLs, user IDs, and
passwords in one secure location. Web Confidential can automate the
process of logging into a password-secured Web page by automatically
passing URL, user ID, and password to your Web browser.

For opening pages containing personal account information at commercial
sites, Web Confidential offers you the one-click convenience of its
Password Shared Menu, saving you from having to retype your user ID and
password each time you log in.

To ensure the personal information stored in Web Confidential remains
confidential, the program's password files can be encrypted using
state-of-the-art encryption technology.

Web Confidential is shareware. After a trial period of thirty days,
users are encouraged to register the program for US$25.
