Button 'Define New Server':
Invokes the window for defining a (new) backup-server. If you want to modify an existing server definition, you must invoke the context-menu over that entry and select 'Edit Server-Definition'.[  back to the screen shot  ]
Chckbox 'Save Server':
Your server-definition is effective immediatly. But if this checkbox is not marked, then the server-definitions that you made in the current run are not preserved for future runs.[  back to the screen shot  ]
List of 'FTP-Servers':
To edit an existing server-definition, you must invoke the context-menu over that entry and select 'Edit Server-Definition'.[  back to the screen shot  ]
Checkbox 'Keep Queue-File':
The Queue-File is the file where all files to be backup'd during a day are listed. Normally this Queue-File is deleted after the Backup Demon/2 terminates. If for some reasons you want to keep the Queue-File you must check this option.[  back to the screen shot  ]
Checkbox 'Test (No 'Archive'-reset)':
If this option is set then the archive-flags of the files are not reset after they have been backup'd. This option can be useful if you intend to upload your backup-data twice, e.g. the first time to one server and the 2nd time to another. Before the 2nd run you would un-mark the 'test'-option again, so that finally all files are set to 'archived'.[  back to the screen shot  ]
Checkbox 'Force Stop':
This option is a kind of final rescue, i.e. if after pushing the 'Stop'-button the processes do not come to an end you can force it by setting this opton 'on'. For more info see 'Stop'-Button.[  back to the screen shot  ]
Display of current Activities:
![]() |
In this area you can see what is currently going on within the Backup Demon/2. The Little Demon indicates that the main processing has been started (i.e. the Collection- and the Upload-threads are present). This is equivalent to the 'Go'-button becoming red. |
![]() | The area right from the Demon graphic contains two status-indicators: one for the Collection-thread and one for the Upload-thread. The upper one indicates that the thread is 'on' (present) while the lower one shows if the thread is active or idle. |

Button 'Go':
By pushing this button the processes of collecting and uploading files to the backup-server is started. If 'Preview' is checked then no upload takes place but only a list of files that are upload-candidates is produced. If 'Preview' is not checked then the 'Go'-button will actually start these threads:[  back to the screen shot  ]
Checkbox 'Preview':
If set 'on' (checked) the pushing the 'Go'-button will not start normal processing but will collect a list of upload-candidates (i.e. files that are to be uploaded).[  back to the screen shot  ]
Button 'Show Queue':
After processing has started (non-preview) you can wait a while and then push this button to display the current queue-file. The queue-file shows which files are to be uploaded and what is the current status of the file: Is it '-' (still waiting for upload) or 'ok' (successfully been uploaded) or something else such like 'Err-x'.[  back to the screen shot  ]
Button 'Stop':
This button will stop processing of the Collection- and the Upload-processes (threads). You should un-mark the 'Disconnect'-checkbox if you plan to invoke the Query-function soon after (so you need not re-connect which sometimes costs time).[  back to the screen shot  ]
Button 'Query':
Invoking the 'Query'-window requires that no upload processing is active, that means you first have to push the 'Stop'-button and wait for the upload to terminate (this is not the case if the Backup-Server is a local device).[  back to the screen shot  ]
Button 'Exit':
Terminates all active processes and exits the program without prompt. Remember that if the 'Keep Queue-File' is un-marked (which is the default) then the Queue-File is deleted at program exit.[  back to the screen shot  ]
