The mission of the CORNELL CU-SeeMe CONSORTIUM is the development and distribution of widespread video communication on the Internet and the facilitation of the user experience using this technology. It achieves these goals by:
- Supporting the development and distribution of the freeware
version of the Cornell CU-SeeMe software
- Promoting interoperability and open standards by publishing
CU-SeeMe protocols and encoding specifications
- Fostering collaboration and technology transfer between software
developers, IP service providers, and end users through technical briefings,
electronic discussions, and access to alpha code and documentation
- Providing an open forum for discussion of issues such as responsible use
policy affecting rapid deployment of affordable desktop communication software
- Affording international visibilty to members via the WEB and other
outreach activities by showcasing their support and their activities
