The ETO*Link systems was developed by the United Nations Trade Point Development Centre and General Electric Information Servivces GEIS, Geneva, Switzerland. ETO*Link providers users with the ETO system plus the access to General Electric Information Services from the same software application. The most important benefit on ETO*Link is that every subscriber can advertise products or services world-wide without going through intermediate agents or networks and dealers as well as posting demands for products and services. The system allows each user to send and receive Electronic Trading Opportunities, ETO from the Global Trade Point Network, GTPN, about product or service offers or demands from all the other countries. The concept of the system is to offer direct contact between the producer and the buyer, supplying company information like telephone, fax, telex numbers and email addresses to the other party. This feature is not only available for interactive searches, but also on "Auto Delivery Mode". This feature allows for automatic notification of a subscriber whenever certain ETOs (offers or demands) are available at any location of the GTPN. In addition, every subscriber is automatically connected to the world-wide Email network of General Electric and can benefit from additional services such as ECAT and EDI.
