1. (VIII). PREPARATIONS FOR THE NINTH SESSION OF THE CONFERENCE
The Eighth Asian Ministerial Meeting, decides to authorize the Asian Group in Geneva, in the context of the substantive preparatory process for UNCTAD IX, to enter into discussions with other regional groups and countries with a view to advancing the views of the Asian Group in the preparatory work for the Ninth Session of the Conference.
2. (VIII). ORGANIZATIONAL MATTERS RELATING TO UNCTAD
The Eighth Asian Ministerial Meeting, bearing in mind that, at UNCTAD IX, the Asian Group will be entitled to seven members of the Bureau of the Conference, decides that the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, host country of the Eighth Asian Ministerial Meeting, should be designated to fill one of the posts of Vice-President of the Conference, and mandates the Asian Group in Geneva to hold consultations with a view to designating other countries to fill the remaining posts of the Bureau.
