The 6 400 acre Sebakwe Recreational Park, located 31.7 miles east of Kwekwe, is based on the Sebakwe Dam near the Great Dyke. The park has been developed to provide recreational and educational facilities for residents of the Midlands urban areas. Although there are no large mammal populations, it has some interesting flora and birdlife.

Many endemic flora species have developed on the soils of the area, which are derived from the Dyke serpentines and have a significant heavy metal content. In the western end of the park a spectacular stand of mountain acacia, Brachystegia glaucescens, has developed on a dolerite ridge.

Most local species of waterfowl are abundant on the dam and at least nine breeding species of herons have been recorded from its heronries.

Visitor accommodation consists of lodges, camping and caravanning sites operated by the Department of National Parks and Wild Life Management. Sebakwe was proclaimed a National Park in 1959 and redesignated a Recreational Park under the Parks and Wild Life Act (1975).
