New Spirit of Competition & Cooperation

Korea is now committed to maximizing economic benefit in the harmonization of its economy with the global economy. It is intent on becoming an equal and open trading partner with the other economies of the world. Korea is prepared to assume a leadership role in Segyehwa, which will lead to more productive trade activities. In order to accomplish these goals, the government has outlined several major trade policy objectives.

Second, the government will simplify export and import clearance procedures, enhance transparency of trade rules and modernize the trade-related system in order to harmonize the Korean trade structure with a US$200 billion annual trade volume.

The government will expand the availability of export insurance and exports on a deferred payment basis. In addition, efforts will be made to sharpen the competitiveness of Korean export products overseas by helping Korean firms produce World Best Products and strengthen their overseas marketing capability.
