Video products

GoldStar recently developed a "dark-tint" superflat color picture tubes (CPT), the first in Korea. The CPT improves color contrast on the screen through the use of a dark tinted panel that changes colors into multiple.

The big three, Samsung, GoldStar and Daewoo, produce more than 90 percent of total TV output in Korea.

Manufacturers said that a TV should have more decorative looks since it is no longer just a utility unit at home but an important object de art in the interior decor. Manufacturers are fighting hard to attract consumers with outer design changes toward a sharper look.

Washing Machines

GoldStar's "Chaos Inverter" model, WF-2050AS, adopts a highly functional motor that controls the rotating speed and time of the washing wings properly adjusting for quantities and materials.

Daewoo Electronics has an ambitious intention to supply 10 percent of the world consumption and to become the world's largest manufacturer of washing machines by the year 2000 with its overseas factories operating in Mexico, Chile, Brazil, Spain, Poland, the CIC, Indonesia, Malaysia, China and Vietnam. Now, "Bubble Z" models are manufactured in these offshore bases.

Samsung Electronics' 9kg model, SEW-9090, features low-noise operation, "Neuro fuzzy" artificial intelligence functions, and energy- and water- saving capabilities. The model perfectly dissolves detergent with a strong churning mechamism.
