II. Leading Trade Prospects for U.S. Business U.S. firms are active in many sectors of the Polish economy. Most are in food, food processing, and consumer goods which offer excellent opportunities for trade and investment. Heavy industry, including oil and gas, the coal sector, and heat and power generation are also promising areas for U.S. companies to pursue projects. Radio and television, telecommunications, home and office constructions, and the transportation sector will offer significant opportunities in the future. Best prospects for U.S. exports to Poland include household consumer goods, medical equipment, air conditioning and refrigeration equipment, building products, apparel, automotive parts, broadcasting equipment, and pollution control equipment. Although U.S. exports are generally put in a less favorable position vis-a-vis their EU rivals due to discriminating tariffs, U.S. exports to Poland continue to grow in most sectors.
