IX. BUSINESS TRAVEL A. Business Customs - Standard European customs apply. Czechs dress much as U.S. business representatives do--suit and tie. Business custom is to be punctual to appointments. Many Americans also feel that business representatives are not warm and friendly. It is not usual that initial meetings are overly cordial, but mostly matter-of-fact, and business partners do not call each other by first names. Unless the Czech business representative has experience dealing with Americans, the business partner might appear to be friendly and outgoing only after several meetings of getting to know a business partner. B. Travel Advisory and Visas - There are no outstanding travel advisories to the Czech Republic, and for American citizens stays of up to 30 days in the Czech Republic do not require a visa. C. Holidays January 1 New Year's Day May 8 Liberation Day July 5 Cyril & Methodius Day July 6 Jan Hus Day October 28 National Day December 25 Christmas Day December 26 St. Stephen's Day D. Business Infrastructure - The Czech Commercial Code establishes business infrastructure and type of establishment: general commercial partnership, limited partnership, limited liability company, joint stock company, and cooperative. Individuals may also do business as entrepreneurs. This infrastructure is closely based on Austrian and German commercial codes.
