II. LEADING TRADE PROSPECTS FOR U. S. BUSINESSES As a result of the devaluation of the CFA, long-entertained pessimism is yeilding ground to guarded optimism as the future shape of the Cameroonian economy begins to appear on the horizon. So far, the profile is not clear enough to permit immediate optimism on business opportunities, but this may change for the better during the second half of 1994. Only the agricultural sector has so far provided sufficient evidence to suggest that opportunities exist for the supply of fertilisers and pesticides. Even so, the government of Cameroon's on-going liquidity problems are such that the GRC may halt, or slow down, current recovery trends in the agricultural sector by re-introducing export taxes and/or restoring its control over the commercialization of cashcrops.
