TimeClick

Quick Question: I've installed TimeClick, but nothing happens when I run the application. What's up?
You're not suppose to see anything other than a TimeClick icon in your Windows System Tray. Read the section on using TimeClick.

Overview

TimeClick is a simple and convenient application to record the time you spend on different projects every day.

With just two clicks you can record the time you start working on each project and the time you finish working on that project. TimeClick will create a text file (CSV) for each day which can be imported into Microsoft Excel or your company's time management system.

Note that the links within this readme file assumes that you are viewing this document from the help menu option within TimeClick. These links will not function correctly if you are reading this from the original ZIP download file.

Installation and Setup

After installation, the program will be available on your Windows menu under Start / All Programs / PSP Software and will also be added to your Startup menu so that it is automatically loaded when you start Windows.

Edit the Projects.CSV file with Ms Excel or a text editor. This is a comma seperated file and must contain 4 columns being the Customer Name, Project Name, Customer Number and Project Number for each project. If you will not be importing your times into a time management application, you can simply enter zeros (0) for the Customer Number and Project Number. Take care not to use commas "," as part of your Customer or Project names.

Once you have finished setting up your projects, exit and restart the TimeClick application.

Using TimeClick

You will not see any application window when you start TimeClick. Instead, look for the TimeClick icon in your System Tray (right-hand side of the Windows Task bar where the time is displayed). .

Clicking on the TimeClick icon within the Windows System Tray will display a menu with all your projects and a few other options at the bottom. During the day, as you start working on a particular project, simply click on that project's name within the TimeClick menu. This will log the current time into the time file for that day (see below). When you need to submit your timesheets to your manager or customer, you can simple print out the time files for each day or import the time files into Excel to summarize your times.

Time Files

Your time files for each day will be created in the Times folder under the installation folder for TimeClick. Each line within the file contains the following 8 fields each seperated by a comma.
Date
Time
Customer Name
Project Name
Customer Number
Project Number
Task description
START or END

Note that the Task Description is not available in the demo version of TimeClick, but the field is included for compatibility if you choose to purchase the full version.
