Subject: [*] Aaron Light 1.2.1

Aaron Light 1.2.1 -- 19 October 1997 -- Shareware Fee: $5
by Greg Landweber (coauthor of Aaron, Kaleidoscope)

Aaron Light is an extension that makes Mac OS 8 look more like
Mac OS 8! It patches the progress bars, floating windows, dialog
box backgrounds, and menu glitches in third party applications
that are not yet Appearance-savvy to help them conform to the
Mac OS 8 Platinum interface. It also substitutes Espi Sans Bold 10
for Chicago 12, since many people prefer Espi as the system font.

Version 1.2.1 patches the indeterminate progress bars (barber
poles) in MT-NewsWatcher 2.3.5, removes the dialog box patch
for BBEdit that was causing problems, and fixes a glitch drawing
default button borders.

Free for registered users of Aaron; $5 shareware for everyone else.

BladePro - Metallic reflections filter
[This file replaces /Archive/gst/grf/pshp/blade-155.hqx]

BladePro, the Photoshop filter that combines textures with bevels and
mirrorlike reflections, now has amazing new features.

BladePro puts you in control of lighting and surfaces, and offers a wide
selection of edge styles. Produce reflections with the included
environment maps (gold, chrome, outdoor scenes) or make your own.

And now you can make glassy objects with prismatic catchlights, tarnish
any surface, pour on iridescent oil-slick colors, and customize your
textures. Over 100 presets get you started right away with all the
possibilities.

Quickly create appealingly 'touchable' 3-D appearances like slippery ice
or weathered copper, as well as eye-catching text, buttons, and special
effects.

BladePro is shareware for Macintosh, and requires a paint program and
QuickTime. You can check for updates at
http://ccn.cs.dal.ca/~aa731/blade.html .

Subject: [*] DragAnyWindow 4.2.1J FAT (Japanese version)

DragAnyWindow 4.2.1J is the Japanese version of Alessandro
Levi Montalcini's original.

* DragAnyWindow is a way cool control panel that enhances the
look and behavior of window dragging. When you drag a window's
title bar and Solid Dragging is active, the whole window image
is moved instead of a dull-looking window outline. If the Update
Windows option is also active, all windows are updated on the
fly without waiting for you to release the mouse. Not as fast as
the BeOS, but definitely better than the standard Mac OS
behavior!

* DragAnyWindow also allows you to easily move any kind of
window, including dialogs, alerts, standard "Open" and "Save"
dialogs, game windows and other non-movable windows. It lets you
bring back to the desktop any window that has gone out of sight,
or center the front window on the main screen with a single
keystroke. These options are very useful for old applications
designed for the 9" screen (which often use fixed windows) and
for moving modal dialogs and windows behind them.

New in version 4.2.1:
- Fixed a minor problem that occurred when moving the mouse to
the menu bar while dragging windows.

$10 shareware. Have fun and support Alex.

to provide inter-office communications (within an organization, for
example).

EasyMail provides the following features:
- easy to setup and use
- seemless use with other applications (no inits, cdevs to install)

- up to 99999 users allowed on a registered server (when registered and
a license pack is purchased)
- uses AppleShare to manage its file structure, so its secure and
effective

Here is a game I wrote called Fast Smack 'Em. It is of the Whack-A-Mole
variety. Mean faces with fangs pop up in a 5x5 grid, and you click them
before they go way. Don't click the happy faces, as it will upset them.
There are 4 skill levels, and 4 speeds, three of which can be selected at
the start of a game. Each skill level has 10 unique stages. After
completeing all 10, you go back to stage 1, but at the next higher speed.
Playing on Ugly with it set to Fast is VERY difficult.

Subject: [*] Fetch-O-Matic 2.0.1 automated website maintenance via FTP

Fetch-O-Matic is a new approach to automated website maintenance via FTP.
Fetch-O-Matic allows web authors to freely create and update files locally
without needing to keep track of their work, and then automatically catalog
the alterations and update the website.

Fetch-O-Matic differs from other available synchronization and maintenance
schemes in that it does not require any local machine to have a complete
site copy. For example, one might decide to grab a few pages and change
them (and/or add some new files) from a Powerbook. Later, the site copy on
the primary machine can be quickly brought up-to-date with just two clicks
- without having to remember what was changed or open the Powerbook.

Fetch-O-Matic is extremely easy to use. Novice web authors in search of a
simple way to update a personal web page won't be intimidated by its power.
Experienced hands will find that previously dreaded operations such as
multi-file search and replace, with the subsequent headache of tracking
down and uploading scattered altered files, are rendered painless. Transfer
errors such as uploading/downloading to the wrong directory are a thing of
the past. If several people are maintaining a site they are protected from
treading on each other's updates.

Fetch-O-Matic was conceived and developed to fill a need in servicing a
large site (http://www.filmscouts.com). Uploads and downloads of thousands
of files at once have been performed with ease. But even on a site with
just a few pages, Fetch-O-Matic will ease the updating chores.

Fetch-O-Matic requires Dartmouth's FTP client "Fetch", AppleScript, the
scripting addition Jon's Commands, and, optionally, Alessandro Levi
Montalcini's "List Files" (providing a significant speed improvement for
large sites), all of which are readily available online. Fetch-O-Matic runs
on any Mac OS machine with reasonable (8mb+) RAM running System 7 or 8. It
runs in the background. It is shareware with a single-user license fee of
$20. There is a free 30-day trial period.

The complete documentation is available online at the Fetch-O-Matic home
page, http://www.filmscouts.com/software/fom.html

*** Version note: this release fixes a bug in v.2.0 which affected certain
users, rendering Fetch-O-Matic inoperable on their machines. If
Fetch-O-Matic 2.0 is running on your machine, this release won't change
anything, but all users should download it anyway because if v2.0 is moved
to another machine, it might not run there. ***

However, I discovered there aren't any nice icons out there for the usual

which often make one's life miserable by moving all the icons

Subject: [*] OT/PPP Bot 1.6

This is the newest release of OT/PPP Bot, an AppleScript application that
stays open and runs in the background to maintain a PPP connection using
OT/PPP. With this version, I have tried to make the Bot operation fool
proof--you should see no operational errors if you cancel out of
connection attempts, you can set preferences for just about any aspect of
what the Bot does, and it should aggressively check and maintain your
connection.

New Features:
*You can escape from a connection attempt by hitting the cancel button,
and the Bot will ask if you want to retry or quit.
*You can set the idle time period to one of three possible settings.
*If you use multiple accounts, simply enter the information for the
account you want to use the Bot with, and it will connect to that account.
*Easily change user preferences by launching the Bot while pressing the
option key.

System requirements:
*Any system with AppleScript and Open Transport/PPP installed (including
the standard scripting additions and the PPP Commands scripting addition
that is installed with OT/PPP).
*Jon's Commands, a free scripting addition available from Info-Mac in the
Development/OpenScripting directory.

Subject: [*] PatientPro 1.0b5

This a stack Designed for Physicians, Medical Residents, Nurse Practioners or
any healthcare provider that writes the standard history and physical notes
called S.O.A.P. notes in a medical clinic or hospital. This stack also
incorporates a patient database manager which stores all notes written along
with past medical history, allergies, medication taken which can later be
retrieved when needed to write another note for a future visit.
This stack is biased towards a pediatric population but can be used in
any specialty.
This stack is 2 years in the making stemming for my need to write notes
faster in a 15 minute/appointment setting seeing 20-30 pediatric patients a
day. This stack/application also cures the plague of the horrible
handwriting. I wrote this stack during clinic to get out as many kinks as
possible which will allow you to write your note in less time than it would
usually take you to write it by hand. It will help you organize your
continuity clinic for the pediatric/medical resident or for the solo, small
practise that you may be in.
The PatientPro mainstack consist of an area for entering the history of
present illness along with past medical history, meds, allergy, social,
family, developmental history. This stack also contains a section for atopic
and asthma history (since I at one time was considering a fellowship in
allergy/immunology). The physical exam section consists of a detailed
complete exam with clickable buttons to hightlight the pertinent positve or
negative physical findings. The assessment/impression section allows you to
input diagnosis and a special drug feature that will calculate common
pediatric drug doses if the weight is given. It also contains a follow up
section to click on the proper follow up instructions. You can then print
your note in a varios formats, though this stack is biased towards air force
medical forms.
The patients stack is the database which basically organize your patients
for follow up and easy info retrieval. Special addition to the patient stack
is the ability to keep track of all weights and heights of each visit and to
automatically calculate peak flows for asthma patients if the height is
entered.
Anyways, it's difficult to explain the many features. Try it, it's not
big and may be just what you need instead of speading hundreds of dollars for
big fat programs designed by programmers and not by a physician, yours
truely!

Subject: [*] Program Switcher v4.4.2

I would like to announce the release of Program Switcher v4.0.

For a long time, Windows(tm) users have enjoyed the ease of being able to
switch between running applications with the alt-tab keystroke. Many Mac
users, while not envious of the other operating system, wished the
MacOS(tm) would have a similar feature. Program Switcher is meant to not
only add that feature to your Macintosh, but also improve on it so that
the other operating system's users will wish their alt-tab feature was as
good as the Mac's.

Subject: [*] QuizPro 2.5

This is an update from the previous QuizPro 2.0 which consolidates both
English and Spanish Features into this one stack. This stack is ideal
for vocabulary, spelling testing in Spanish or English, generalize
concept testing, or review for those big pediatric/medical board type
tests. By entering a test topic with questions and answers separated by
a comma, you can generate 6 different variations of multiple choice
quzzing or fillin and each quiz is different with each use. You can use
this stack to learn vocabulary, spelling, concept understanding, foreign
language. This stack also integrates Speech Manager which aid in giving
spelling tests and with Spanish Macintalk can also aid in learning
Spanish effectively for you or your students. A number of teachers use
this stack in their classroom. Some have actually use it to adminster
quizzes because this stack will record the scores of your students and
can keep a record of missed answers for later review. Some teachers
actually use this stack for remedial purposes so no child can move on to
the next spelling test until they can spell all the words in the
previous week's list. Try it, you will like it.

New to to version 2.5
- ability to check your quiz list for errors that can later cause problems in
quizzing
- enables selection of different voices within the stack from eg. Catalina
for Spanish or Victoria for English
- allows voice changes in pitch, amplitude or variation of intonation
- capacity to customize types of phrases after each questioned anser such as
"Very good, " "Muy bien," "wrong, try again," etc.
- removed bugs which results in the selection of the wrong quiz set
- auto capitalization of first character of each test item and removal of
unwanted spaces in your test list

matches, where the first matches are afforded by Serie A football teams.
Your guess hasn't to be too accurate: you only have to guess which team
wins or if they draw.

TotoTurbo 1.2.1 lets you:
- create systems from only 1 column to 13 triples
- constrain the columns to have minimum and maximum signs, maximum
consecutivity, minimum and maximum simmetries, minimum and maximum
interruptions, minimum and maximum parallels, even and odd groups,
sequences, constrained columns, derived formulas
- constrain systems with even more detailed criteria
- constrain columns by pickets
- recover unlimited number of wrong conditions
- reduce the constrained system in order to get second and third
category wins
- print the columns on paper and directly to forms
- import, export and manage the set of Totocalcio contests
- export the system to plain text
- customize the application to suit user's needs
- check the system to see if you have won

The great force of TotoTurbo is its speed: it can create, constrain
systems in real time and it's able to get reduced systems is few seconds
on PowerPC processors. TotoTurbo 1.1 has complete documentation in
Italian language: please contact us if you are interested in more
information in English.
