Subject: [*] Airport IDs 2.4

** UPDATE **
Version 2.4 updates the program expiration routine for unregistered
copies.

Bundled with the application are the following files:
1. Airport IDs (3-letter)
2. Airline IDs (2-letter and 3-letter)
3. ATA Codes
4. Telephone Area Codes (US/Canada)

A 4-letter Airport ID datafile is available for separate download since
it is quite hefty (over 6600 records).

If you cannot locate a datafile that you want please check out:
       http://www.netten.net/~montylee/AirportInfo.html

** OVERVIEW **
Airport IDs is a neat little utility that allows you to search for
Airport/City locations by name or ID code. It returns all records that
match your criteria (truncates list if over 32K characters). Registered
users can display the location on a world map and export/import the
database to make modifications/corrections as they desire.

Thank you to users who have previously registered Airport IDs; you do
not need to register this new version. The registration cost is only $7
(free for FedEx employees) so please register if you decide to keep this
program. Site licenses are available.

Very useful utility for everyone! CopyPaste adds 10 clipboards to the Mac.
How often have you wanted to copy more then one item at a time before
switching and pasting in another application? With CopyPaste you can copy
10 items at a time and paste them separately or all together.
CopyPaste is simple to use. Before CopyPaste you used command c to copy an
item now you just add a number like this, command c 7 (this copies the
highlighted text or picture to clipboard number 7). CopyPaste has many
other features like application switching and text processing which helped
make it the shareware utility award winner of 96. Fixes and Features in
version 3.2.2
* A memory leak was fixed which wasted memory when the Palette
was open.
* Using the keyboard function keys for is now off by default. You can switch
them on/off in the preferences dialog.

This program will allow you to solve cryptoquip puzzles often found in the
games section in the newspaper.

The solving program is not an interactive solver; it solves the cryptoquip
by itself!

The program is FAT, and should run on 68020 and better machines (and of
course any PowerPC!). To wet your appetite, it takes an average of 10
seconds to solve a puzzle on my PowerMac 7500/100.

Version 3.0 offers a much faster, more reliable (successful) algorithm than
version 2.2.

Versions for other platforms (PC, UNIX) are available by contacting the
author.

This program may not be redistributed, except as the complete archive with
absolutely NO CHARGES. For other distribution licenses, contact the author.

Subject: [*] Enigma 2.6.1

I am pleased to announce the release of Enigma 2.6.1. An upgrade to my
privacy protecting encryption application which runs in native mode on
Power Macintoshs.

Version 2.6.1 fixes some bugs and adds some minor features:
* Added reveal-invisible menu command for finding those invisible
vaults.
* Fixed a problem that prevented using Self-extracting vaults in
version 2.6.
* Fixed drag-manager crash with old (version 7.1 or older) system
software.
* Fixed minor window position problem with two monitors

You should upgrade if you are using any previous version of Enigma.

My file shredding application Burn is distributed separately to save
download time. The most current version of Burn as of 01/05/97 is 2.4.

Enigma remains fully compatible with previous releases.

Enigma is an application which can provide near absolute protection for
your sensitive documents and applications. By downloading this application
you can encrypt files using a limited version of the Government Standard
DES algorithm. For only $20 this can be upgraded to the full DES standard
(US and Canada only).

If you would prefer your neighbors not see your accounting data, your
co-workers not see your performance appraisal, or your competitor see your
trade secrets then Enigma is an application you will find very valuable.

Enigma supports vaults which are like very securely locked file cabinets.
Multiple files are stored in them. Files can be added, deleted, renamed,
and extracted at any time. You can create folders inside the vault to
organize your files better. Entire folders can be extracted or added in one
operation. Security is enhanced because filenames and lengths are protected
by encryption in addition to the contents. No other free or shareware
encryption program offers the flexibility of Enigma vaults.

You can also create self extracting vaults to send to friends and
associates who do not have the Enigma application. Self extracting vaults
are stand alone applications that cannot be opened without the proper key.

Enigma requires system 7.0 or later along with about 2 megabyte of *more

Foon4Mac 1.0 Release

Foon4Mac is a program that reads the official PTT CD's containing all Dutch
phone numbers. This program is not affiliated with the Dutch PTT, and works
with CD's before June 1996. You have to supply the CD yourself.
Those CD's contain only a DOS program, and we found that situation
unacceptable, so therefore we wrote Foon4Mac, which is far better than the
DOS program (imnsho).

This program allows flexible access to the phone and address data, i.e. you
could create a list of all addresses in Amsterdam, or of all addresses
whose postcode starts with 102 or whatever combination you think of. Export
to databases is very easy, and all functions of the program are recordable
and scriptable. Example scripts are included.

Foon4Mac is shareware, DFL 25.

Project Gutenberg and many similar projects by individuals and
institutions are already making libraries of electronic text (etext)
freely available via the internet. Improvements in scanning technologies
mean that it is increasingly affordable for organizations and
individuals to create their own etexts. But how are we to work with
these documents? Palimpsest addresses this need, with a powerful new
hypertext application for working with etext.

Palimpsest is ideal for anyone whose work involves documents. This
includes secondary and higher education students of literature, history,
law or any subject which involves working with written material.
Teachers, academics, researchers, lawyers, religious scholars and others
would all benefit from this complete system.

Palimpsest
* provides a space for organizing collections of related documents
* incorporates unique hypertext features to help you annotate, cross
reference, and give outline structures to your own work, and the
documents you are
working with.
* features sophisticated but easy to use searching, as well as novel
hypertext reporting features.

Palimpsest 1 Lite PPC is limited in the number of new documents that it
can create. Palimpsest is available for US$50 for a one year subscription

MacNamer version 2.0 =A91996 MarcusCom
1/4/97

The installer installs eight files on your hard drive. Four are scripting
additions, File IO, XCMD OSAX, Copy File, ResMover and they are installed
in the Scripting Additions folder in the Extensions Folder. Once the
renaming is done, you can remove them, but if you are an AppleScript buff,
you might want to check them out. The readme for XCMD OSAX is also
included. The three remaining files, including this README are installed
wherever you want them.

Requires:
* System 7.5.x
* AppleScript 1.1.x
* Finder Scripting Extension
* At least 4 megs of RAM
=09
I'm sure that by now, most serious Mac users have upgraded to at least
System 7.5. If not, what are you waiting for?! But any System 7.5.x user
will tell you that once you do, you'll lose the individuality of your Mac.
All the machine names have been replaced by either " Macintosh," " Power
Macintosh," or " PowerBook" depending on the kind of Mac you have. There
are a few programs out there that help to remedy this problem, but
unfortunately, they are memory eating extensions that must always be loaded
to work. MacNamer is an AppleScript applet that uses two non-standard
Scripting Additions (included), and Finder scriptability (included with
System 7.5.x) to edit your active system file. Don't worry, I've tested
this out on a few machines running a different versions of system 7.5.x,
and it works fine. It even backs up the old copy of the system file for
you. And, not only will MacNamer give your Mac back it's real name, but any
name you want (up to 255 charcters)! To use it, simply double-click on the
MacNamer icon, and let it do the rest. As with any resource editing, ALWAYS
disable virus protection BEFORE you run the program. It won't hurt the
original if you don't, but you could and probably will damage the edited
version. After it finishes, it will restart your Mac. If you have any
comments or bug reports, send them to marcus@ocala.cs.miami.edu.

Subject: [*] Mailto Tamer 1.2 for HTML WWW Forms submitted via Email

Please note: This file replaces version 1.1. I have also uploaded an
upgrade patch that will convert version 1.1 to 1.2 :)

Mailto Tamer 1.2
by James Kass

Mailto Tamer (M2T) is designed to eliminate plusses and decode hex codes
>From emailed forms posted through your World Wide Web site.

You can either open a text file from within M2T, Drag a text file onto the
M2T logo from the finder, or create a new file from within M2T (useful if
the information to be Tamed is on the clipboard.)

Then simply click on the "Tame It" Button, and let M2T work it's magic!

Mailto Tamer is Shareware. Full Registration information is in the "Read
Me" file.

SOME NEW FEATURES:

o FASTER! A new taming engine makes taming lickety split! Benchmark testing
reveals that a 32k file that took 3:25 to Tame using v1.1 takes only 1:05
in version 1.2. Not to shabby!

o Bug Bug Fix Fix: The bug fix that prevented mailto tamer from scanning
for extra characters caused a bug that didn't let M2T scan all the
characters in the file. I've got the bug licked! (What's with this "lick"
obsession of mine?)

The startup screen file can be used with any color
MacOS compatible Macintosh.

Use this patch on a COPY of the System file ONLY.
Apple Orchard Software is not responsible for damage

own risk. If you are uncomfortable with using the patch,
then use the StartupScreen file instead.

The enclosed patch cannot be used with any System older
than 7.5.5 (requires the startup graphic to be present in
the System file).

What is the startup screen? It is a rendition of the
Apple/NeXT merger. Very colorful, and professional-
looking (I -yipes!- stole the graphics from the NeXT web
site @ www.next.com).

I have also enclosed the ResEdit resources for the startup
patch if you own a system < 7.5.5 and you feel comfortable
patching the file yourself. To do this, simply open the
file in ResEdit, copy the PICT resource, open a COPY of the
System file (or System Update x.x) and paste (replacing
existing ID numbers). Save, close, replace original with
newly patched copy (keeping original in a safe place for
now) and restart.

Palimpsest 1 Lite is limited in the number of new documents that it can
create. Palimpsest is
available for US$50 for a one year subscription entitling you to all
upgrades, technical support and more. See

Ever since Kaleidoscope first came out in beta, I have been tinkering with
my own color scheme, combining features found in some of the original
plugins and in some of the schemes that have since been posted to the net.
Red Plastic is finally ready for prime time. It combines red plastic
pushbuttons similar to those used in the "sherbet" scheme with the basic
gray plastic window color of the original Aaron. There are many
enhancements, however, so you'll have to download Red Plastic and try it
out for yourself.

Red Plastic is funware. If you like it, enjoy it. It's the least I can do

Subject: [*] SoundApp 2.2.2

I'm happy to announce the availability of SoundApp 2.2.2. SoundApp is the
premiere sound playback and conversion utility for the Macintosh. It is
suitable for use as a sound-playing helper application with any of the
popular WWW browsers, in addition to managing a collection of favorite
sound samples and stand-alone usage. SoundApp remains freeware, so you may
use it at no cost. Information regarding licensing the conversion and
playback routines can be found in the internal "About SoundApp..."
documentation.

SoundApp has been mailed to the popular "macgifts" list, and should appear
on Info-Mac and the University of Michigan's archive sites in a few days.
In addition, you can download it directly via the WWW from:

<http://www-cs-students.stanford.edu/~franke/SoundApp/>

SoundApp 2.2.2 fixed a few problems with 2.2.1:

* Conversion downsampling from 44.1 or 48 kHz to a lower rate (e.g.,
32 kHz) no longer produces slight clicks,
* Playback of MIDI files using OMS now uses the proper selected device,
* Work around a bug in QuickTime 2.1 which prevented many MIDI files
>From playing,
* Fixed a bug which prevented MOD conversion on 680x0 Macs,
* Fixed a bug which wouldn't generate very random shuffled Play Lists.

SoundApp 2.2 adds the following features over 2.1.1:

* Added a new Convert menu to group all the convert output options,
added the capability to save conversion preferences as a named
configuration, added an editor for saved sets, and removed all output
format related options from the Convert preferences pane,
* Added Sound Designer and direct QuickTime output formats,
* Added support for MACE-3 and MACE-6 compression in SoundEdit files,
* Added support for AIFF and 'snd ' files explicitly encoded with the
'twos' and 'raw ' codecs,
* Re-wrote the MIDI code from scratch and added OMS support and a new
MIDI Preferences pane,
* Added an optional Script menu which lists the scripts in a
"Script Menu Items" folder,
* The volume preference is now relative to the system volume, thus
will have no effect on other applications' volume, and can now go from 10%
to 150%,
* Added Info window to provide more information on a sound file,
* Added extensive AppleScript support,
* Conversion of suitcases or MOD files now places the sounds in a
sub-folder, and
* more

A week of screwing with HTML Colorpicker and ResEdit.

How do I install Stereo?
Drag this into the Kaleidoscope Color Schemes folder, which is located

Hi everybody:

As a Christmas present for those enthusiastic users of Survival, I'm
posting version 6.1.4b which is an updated an enhanced version of Survival
6.1.3 As in version 6.1.3 I include in this pack the FPU and non FPU
version of the program, the latter to be used by Power Mac users or
computers with the 68LS040 chip, who reported problems with the FPU
version. Sorry but so far I've found no time to translate the source file
>From Think Pascal to Code Warrior to compile a native Power PC version. The
people at Code Warrior scrambled everything, so I have to learn again. As
promessed, I also include a full tutorial in two stand alone applications
developed with DocMaker version 4.5, so that you won't a need now a word
processor to read or print its content. The first part of the Tutorial
describes the basics and foundations of survival analysis with both
parametric and non parametric models. In the second part, a practical
application of Survival and the use of the different options are
illustrated with different examples. Version 6.1.4b include these new
features:
- The graphic interface hase been redesigned to make it more frendly
for the user and has more options.
- An option for non parametric survival analysis with Competing Risks has
been included. This option is still under test, but seems to work reliably.
A Data set for training is included in this pack.
- The problems that surged when making stratified analysis with tied surviva=
l
times have been fixed. Now you may work evenwith heavy tied data. The
iterative algorirthm used in previous version to estimate the survival
function for tied data has been refined and now is an option.
- Some bugs (minor) have also been fixed which mainly affected the function
of the graphic interface and some dialog boxes when switching from English
to Spanish.
- The on-line Help file has been updated to reflect the last changes.
Nevertheless, have a look at the SurvivalLastChanges file

Any number of file types, creators and file endings may be skipped.

Obsolete files and folders can be archived into a folder.

Other features include:
- complete log of actions (now unlimited in length)
- obsolete files can be deleted, trashed or archived
