Subject: [*] Booklet Maker v1.1

Announcing the release of the Booklet Maker program which can be used in
conjunction with most word processors and a Postscript printer to
produce small books.

Specifically, this application will read a PostScript file, rearrange
the pages, and create a new PostScript file. This new file can then be
sent to a printer with just two passes of the paper (or only one pass if
you have a duplex printer). The resulting double sided sheets can then
be folded over to form a book.

Features:
* Works with almost all word processors.
* Small, simple application. (Microsoft, eat your heart out.)
* Works with any paper size.
* Supports drag and drop under System 7.
* Works with single sided or duplex printers.
* The price is right - free.

System requirements:
* Booklet Maker runs under any version of System 6 or System 7.
* Any 68K Macintosh (MacPlus or later) or any Power Macintosh.
* Booklet Maker uses a whopping 100k of RAM.
* The application requires about 50k of hard drive space.
* Hard disk space for two Postscript files. This varies with the size of
the document to be made into a book and is typically 1 to 2M.

Printer requirements:
* Any Postscript compatible printer.
* LaserWriter 8 driver must be used (requires system 6.07 or later).

For more information, please see the enclosed README file.

Codebook v2.9
After months of preperning the newest version of Codebook is released, with
tons of cheats and codes to mac games. Shareware distributors may add
Codebook to their commercially available CD-ROMs, Floppys, BBSs and more,
as long as they don't modify the files or charge unreasonable sums for
them. This is a FAT file and I'd belive that this app would work on any

CopyPaste 3.3.4 the essential utility

CopyPaste is the shareware utility that was awarded a 5 mouse rating by
MacUser and was their shareware utility of the year 1996. CopyPaste also
appeared in the June Wired and been featured in MacWeek, TidBits and many
other magazines. CopyPaste magnifies the clipboard in many different ways
and has been very popular with web developers, editors, writers, dtp
professionals and everyone who uses the clipboard. CopyPaste can be
downloaded free at:
http://www.scriptsoftware.com

CopyPaste has these features:
Clip Extender - gives 10 easy to access clipboards via menu or key command.
Clip Recorder - remembers the last 10 items copied via command c.
Clip Archive - copied data is appended to one of 10 text files on disk.
Save Clipboards thru Restarts - allows all 10 Clipboards to be saved thru
Shutdown or Restart.
Clip Sets - Sets of 10 clipboards can be loaded and saved to disk. Various
Clip Sets can be created for different tasks. Clip Sets can also be sent to
other CopyPaste users for them to load and use.
CopyPaste Palette - a floating windoid that allows you to view/use 10
clipboards in Clip Extender and in Clip Recorder.
CopyPaste Utilities - there are text utilities, picture utilities and date
and time utilities that work on the clipboard.
CopyPaste eliminates tedious repetitive work and increases your ability to
get the job done.

Changes in version 3.3.4
now remembers two positions for the Palette, i.e. you can move the Palette
in its small size to any screen position which is remembered separately
from the screen position of the Palette in its large size. Thereby you can
avoid to get your trash can obscured.
The tools did not change the clipboard from within the Clipboard Viewer
permanently. This is fixed now.

This is the Japanese version of the CopyPaste package.

One of the early wonders of the Mac was its revolutionary ability to do copy
and paste across various applications. Unlike other areas in the Mac's
system software that have changed and progressed over the years, copying and
pasting has not evolved. How many times have you found yourself going back
and forth copying in one application and pasting in a different application,
wishing to yourself that you could copy 5-10 items at a time, then go to
another application and paste each of these items. Now you can with a
vengeance!

CopyPaste magnifies the clipboard in different ways.

Subject: [*] CURLPushButton 2.2 - A PowerPlant Class

A Metrowerks PowerPlant inherited class geared towards helping your
application become Internet-savvy. It allows you to put clickable
buttons in places (e.g. your About box) that will look like a URL in a
web browser...click on the URL and go right to there! Great for listing
the web page for your software, the email address for contact/support,
the ftp site where users can get updates or whatever you want! You list
the text, they can see it, copy it down, whatever... and then just click
and visit it. VERY HANDY!! VERY COOL!!

The class is even set up that the text of the button can say one thing
but then still visit the URL. For example, the About Box displays your
name and you click on it and it visits your personal web page or
something. Point is, the button can list the URL text or not...it's a
flexible class.

There is a demonstration application included in the archive to help you
see how it works as well as help and tips for implimentation.
Furthermore there is a CPPb/CTYP file that you can use to aid in the
editing process (for use with Metrowerks Constructor).

For complete information, please read the README file enclosed in the
archive.

Digital Diary v1.4
Activity and Decision Tracker for the Macintosh

System Requirements: System 6 and 7, Mac Plus or better (including PowerMac)=
,
1.6 megs free RAM, =B11 Meg disk space

While most personal information managers focus on scheduling and
contacts management, Digital Diary concentrates on keeping an organized
record of your work, allowing you quick and easy retrieval of a project's
history when most needed.

Digital Diary allows fingertip access to the current status of any
projects, allowing you to see all activities on all projects on any day you
choose. On a complex project, there could be a dozen or more separate
issues at the same time, each of which has its own distinct status and
decision process. Wouldn't it be great to be able to pull up the history
and present status of each of these at any time?

Digital Diary organizes note entries into project and day files so that
current reports of all activities on any given day or project can be
instantly viewed. Projects are organized under user-defined categories in a
hierarchical pop-up menu. Projects can be easily transferred between
categories, making it ideal for use as a convenient project status
indicator. Entries are identified with a header containing the type of
activity, project name, category, note number, and date and time of entry.
'To do list' entries will pop up to remind you of unattended items at a
chosen future date. Versatile report generation can gather, for example,
all notes of a given activity type or project status.

Digital Diary=81 replaces:
To do lists, diaries, reminder notes, day files, telephone notes
and all sorts of other memory joggers. And it's fun to use!

Subject: [*] HCmdButtonAttachment 1.1 - A PowerPlant Class

A Metrowerks PowerPlant inherited class that gives controls (LControls)
a command-key equivalent. This allows for more keyboard navigation. For
example, the traditional "Save before closing?" dialog asks to "Save",
"Cancel" or "Don't Save". Save is typically the default key (return)
and Cancel the cancel (escape), but there is no keyboard way to hit
Don't Save. Enter HCmdButtonAttachment.

With HCmdButtonAttachment, you can give any LControl a command-key
shortcut. You can specify the key to be the first letter/character of
the control's descriptor or it can be a character of your own arbitrary
specification. You can also have the title of the control change to
display the shortcut or not, and do so after a user-configurable amount
of time.

This archive includes the HCmdButtonAttachment sources, a custom CTYP
file for use with Constructor 2.4 or later, and an example application
to demonstrate the class.

A Metrowerks PowerPlant inherited class that displays a horizontally
scrolling (from right to left) "marquee" of text, similar in appearance
to the scrolling JavaScript marquee that you often see across the bottom
of web browser windows.

Features: - Utilizes offscreen GWorlds for smooth scrolling of text. -
Uses text Handles for an amount of text limited only by available
memory. - Utilizes modifier keys to modify scrolling behavior (increase
scrolling speed, scroll left to right, pause scrolling).

Can be used in About boxes for scrolling credits, in JavaScript
implementations for the scrolling caption, in applications that need
ticker-tape-style animations, or anywhere a marquee-style sign and
animation is desired.

Subject: [*] HTML Colors v1.02

An update to v1.0. This update fixes some problems pasting uppercase
HTML, and better deals with tags that are not understood (such as
BACKGROUND="xxx.gif").

The original description for HTML Colors v1.0 is below.

HTML Colors will help you design a visually pleasing color scheme for
your web page, allowing you complete control over the text color, link
color, visited link color, active link color, and background color. You
choose the colors using the Apple color picker, HTML Colors
automatically converts them to hexadecimal, and you can then instantly
see the results in a preview window -- without launching a browser.

After you've found a color scheme you like, you just press the "copy"
button and paste the text into your favorite HTML editor, such as
BBEdit. The BODY tag appears with all of your color choices in hex
format. You can also copy the BODY tag from an existing HTML document
and paste it into HTML Colors. Poof! HTML Colors will parse the tag
and display your colors in the preview window, ready for editing!

Invaluable, small, and quick. This one goes in your Apple Menu. :)

HTML Colors is US$10 shareware for commercial use. It is ABSOLUTELY FREE
for personal use.

Subject: [*] iView 2.6

iView (new features below) Simply the easiest and fastest way to view
and catalog pictures for the Mac.

If you have ever wanted an application that would keep track of all the
pictures on your disk iView is for you. iView is primarily designed to
catalog and playback image files. iView goes beyond the Mac's simple
scrapbook utility and allows you to view and organize several types of
images on all your disks. Some of the types currently supported include:
JPEG, GIF, Single-layer Photoshop, Silicon Graphics and of course PICT
files, clips, startup screens and if XTND is installed TIFF and EPS.
iView displays images as a list of file names, list of thumbnails,
variable sized image, or as a slide show. Images can then be cataloged,
launched with the application that created them, printed in custom
reports, saved as a QuickTime=81 movie, copied to the clipboard, or
dragged as clips to the finder or into Photoshop. Catalogs can be
searched and saved on your hard disk. A catalog can contain real images
from volumes that may not be mounted. iView will let you view the images
and prompt you to insert the volume to retrieve an image.

iView makes extensive use of drag and drop which makes it easy to use
and interface with the finder. In fact, everything about iView is
designed to be simple, useful and intuitive. iView eliminates tedious
repetitive work and increases your ability to get the job done. It makes
image re-use and playback quick and easy, as it ensures individuals as
well as publishers, designers, pre-press operators and multi-media
programmers will never have to search through stacks of SyQuest back-ups
for missing images ever again.

Changes & additions in version 2.6

Bug fixes: 1. fixed problems with gif palettes and animated images 2.
fixed a problem of not showing image in image view (due to low memory)
3. fixed a bug with screen fading. (hopefully)

Subject: [*] Kinga 2.0

Kinga is a gambling game with an Egyptian theme.

It is your goal to win enough money to build a Pyramid which consists of
six construction levels each costing 1500 credits.

When completed the secrets of a Pyramid will be revealed to you!!

The game is split into three different stages - The Begin Stage, The
Pyramid Gamble Stage and finally, The Sphinx Stage. Credits won can be
transfered from one stage to the other. The game is lost if at any time
you run out of credits. Watch out for the gremlins and demon !!!!!

I wrote Kinga originally for myself to provide an exciting substitute
for real gambling machines and it has already saved me a lot of money
!!!! The program chooses reel and pyramid positions at random.

Version 2.0 has some new features
- play, sound & speech settings
- pyramid background info
- revised instructions
- 256 colour compatible
- fixes some bugs

Enjoy,

Jason Sidwell.

The Message Box Rebounder is a small tool which simply revitalizes the
HyperCard Player's message box. In essence, it "bounces" the contents of
the message box back up the passing path in a form the Player will
directly execute instead of beeping at. The Rebounder automatically
distinguishes between commands and expressions and includes these
features: retrieval of the last message typed, instant reporting of "the
result" function, support for the standard "it" global variable, and an
available multi-line "Batch Message" field. I can't say what this stack
should be used for -- it really has as many uses as the message box
itself. If you're clever, you could even use this stack to edit most
object scripts.

Subject: [*] Seeker 1.0, a shareware web search helper

Seeker takes advantage of Netscape Navigator's protocol registering
technique to greatly simplify the task of searching the web. Here's a
description of Seeker, from the Seeker 1.0 Documentation:

In short, Seeker is a $15 shareware web search utility that effectively
cuts your web search time in half.

Here's a practical example. To search Yahoo's web directory for sites
containing information on knitting patterns, you would normally go to
Yahoo's search page at http://www.yahoo.com/. After waiting for the page
to load you would enter "knitting patterns" and type Return or click the
Search button.

Seeker eliminates the first step entirely. When Seeker is running, simply
enter "yahoo:knitting patterns" into the Navigator Location bar (also
known as the "Go To box" or "Netsite box") and Netscape Navigator is
magically transported directly to Yahoo's search results page at
http://search.yahoo.com/bin/search?p=knitting%20patterns.

Seeker 1.0 supports all the major commercial search engines and literally
dozens of other web directories and site-specific search engines (Seeker
supports 107 protocols in this version alone). For the complete list, I
invite you visit the Supported Protocols page at
http://antioch-college.edu/~stefan/protocols.html.

The Seeker home page is at
http://antioch-college.edu/~stefan/seeker.html. Enjoy!

Permission will be gladly given upon request to redistribute Seeker with
books or magazines or on CD-ROMs. When possible, I would very much
appreciate a complimentary copy of or a discount toward the CD-ROM, book,
or magazine. Of course, Seeker must be distributed with all the
accompanying documentation.

Redistributing Seeker without my permission is just plain not nice (and
illegal, too).

I can be reached at any time at mailto:stefan@antioch-college.edu.

-Continuous network play with up to five players over AppleTalk or TCP/IP
connections
-Single player competitions against artificially intelligent opponents
-Two play modes: a race across the country and a demolition derby

photons, mines, oil shooters, and really big bowling balls
-3D positional sound effects
-16-track 44kHz stereo musical score
-Atmospheric effects such as fog and snow
-Direct support of the Thrustmaster Formula T2, FCS, WCS, and CH Products

-Ambient objects such as hot air balloons, construction sites, road

Race across the country on Interstate 90 in Speed Demon's track mode.
While you try to complete each of the states the game passes through within
your time limits, you'll have to deal with sharp curves, enemy cars
blocking your way, obstacles in the road, and annoyances such as incoming
missiles and land mines dropped by your opponents. Or try demolition derby
mode, and get thrown in an arena with five heavily-armed cars as you
attempt to be the last survivor.

The shareware download is limited to two players in network games, and
consists of one state on Interstate 90 and a demolition derby arena. Users
who register for $20 will be able to download five additional states, and
unlock five-player net games.

Screenshots are available at http://www.cerbdev.com/mac/speeddemon/

Speed Demon requires a Power Macintosh with 16MB of free RAM, and Open

Subject: [*] System's Twilight

System's Twilight is Andrew Plotkin's "abstract fairy tale" that "smart
game" fans will enjoy. This piece of software is part story, part
puzzle, part maze, and all fun. System's Twilight received the highest
rating (5 out of 5) from ZiffNet/Mac, guaranteeing hours of
problem-solving fun.

In the game, you are a member of an electronic society which "lives" in
the programming of a huge but failing computer. Like the hero of a
classic epic, you must go on a quest, but in this case you must travel
throughout the crumbling computer system, solving puzzles and
negotiating mazes in the hope of saving the system before it completely
falls apart.

ZiffNet/Mac says "The puzzles range from word scrambles to board games
and, while suitable for the whole family, are challenging to even the
most dedicated puzzle solver...Though the game format is simple, the
puzzles themselves are strangely addictive."

If you enjoy the challenge of a good mystery or puzzle, then System's
Twilight is definitely worth the download for you. Since it is
distributed as shareware, you can enjoy a substantial portion of the
game at no cost, just to get a taste of what the game is like. If you

have the code sheet mailed to you to unlock the full version of the
game.

Do you really need to even have AppleTalk turned on when using Fetch or
Netscape?

My machine at home [PowerCenter 120] connects to the net through OT/PPP;
AppleTalk has been set to "inactive" for several months.

My machine here at work [PowerMac 8100] connects to the net by way of the
Ethernet LAN. I just turned AppleTalk off, then successfully connected to
both my off-site POP server using Eudora and the Macintouch page using MSIE.

Both machines are running 7.6.1.

As to your actual question, I'm afraid I don't know of a way, short of
using KeyQuencer or QuickKeys to actually drive the interface and click on
the appropriate buttons. I don't know that I'd describe such a method as
"elegant". ;)
