MICKEY, a memory resident utility for Ventura Publisher(R), is now available directly to CompuServe users via SOFTEX electronic software distribution, from Ventura Publisher(R) re-sellers, and directly from Metroplex Digital Corporation of Dallas, Texas. When installed, MICKEY activates the unused right mouse button for Ventura Publisher(R) and triggers "OK" selection in Ventura Publisher(R) dialog boxes. The right button allows users to select items, such as typefaces or frame margins, and then remove dialog boxes without moving the mouse. MICKEY also provides "hot keys" that slow down, speed up, and reset mouse cursor speed, allowing the user to set a speed comfortable for the monitor in use. This feature can reduce the tendency of lines drawn in graphics mode to "break" in the middle and of frames to "jump" when selected. With full page monitors, it is often advantageous to speed up mouse travel to move up and down the page. MICKEY operates immediately with bus mice and with two installation steps with serial mice. MOUSE.COM, or equivalent, must be resident. MICKEY was originally developed for internal use by MDC as a step toward improving turnaround time in developing documentation for other software products. It was made available as a commercial product in August, 1988, to solve a general user need; MICKEY is presently in use both within Xerox and by Ventura Software, Inc. MICKEY operates with Ventura Publisher(R) versions 1.0, 1.1, and 2.0. MICKEY's manufacturer's suggested retail price is $20.00 US. Credit card orders (214 231-8944) are shipped next day; immediate copies are available on CompuServe by typing "GO SOFTEX" at any CompuServe prompt and then requesting MICKEY.
