2. Installation

2.1 How to obtain GTKPool

You can download GTKPool at http://gtkpool.seul.org/. This is the official site for GTKPool. I maintain source tarballs and Red Hat(tm) RPMs. I would like to thank the fine folks at SEUL for hosting this project and for their help in getting set up. By the way, they are an excellent organization and do some great things for the community (obviously much more important then some games ;).

There are also versions available from other sources. Some are linked from the site, but here is what I know of...

Official Debian Packages are here (but you'd be silly not to use apt-get).
OpenBSD keeps a version in their ports area.
Please let me know if you maintain a version so I can link and list it.

2.2 Requirements

GTKPool requires the following libraries... and it's been tested on the following systems (please feel free to let me know your experiences)...

2.3 Compilation and installation

If you get the binary packages, use the normal instalation procedure of that system.

For example, if you get the RPM then use :

# rpm -ivh gtkpool-0.5.0-1rhl.i386.rpm

For .deb users, you may want to use apt-get :

# apt-get install gtkpool

In order to compile and install GTKPool on your system, type the following in the directory you downloaded GTKPool:

# tar -xzf gtkpool-0.5.0.tar.gz
# cd gtkpool-0.5.0
# ./configure
# make
# make install

You should make sure that /usr/local/bin is in your PATH environment variable. Or if installing it elsewhere, that location should be in your PATH.

Since GTKPool uses autoconf you should not have trouble compiling it. Should you run into problems please report them to the the author Brian Ashe
