Keypad Commands

Following is a list of commands recognized in keypad mode. There are no restrictions on the order of these commands.

Erase the current keypad input as if it had never been entered.

/

Receive on transmit frequency with FM radios. This is the same function as the simplex keyboard command and the CHECK button on the radio.

Swap main and sub VFO frequencies on dual-VFO radios. This is the same function as the change keyboard command and the CHANGE button on the radio.

UP (keyboard arrow key)

Shift the frequency up one step and report the new frequency and mode. This is the same function as the up keyboard command. This command is reported as [a in the help menu.

DOWN (keyboard arrow key)

Shift the frequency down one step and report the new frequency and mode. This is the same function as the down keyboard command. This command is reported as [b in the help menu.

RIGHT (keyboard arrow key)

Increase the tuning rate one step and report the new step value. This is the same function as the rate keyboard command. It is reported as [c in the help menu.

LEFT (keyboard arrow key)

Decrease the tuning rate one step and report the new step value. This is the same function as the rate keyboard command. It is reported as [d in the help menu.

[offset] ]

Set the dual-VFO radio in split mode and set the sub VFO to the main VFO frequency with optional offset in kHz. This is the same function as the split keyboard command and the SPLIT button on the radio, but with optional offset.

[antenna]a

Select one of the antennas listed by the help menu. If no argument is given, report the previous selection. This is the same function as the ant keyboard command and the ANT buttons on the radio.

[channel]c

Select the memory channel and load the VFO frequency, mode and transmit duplex offset. This is the same function as the chan keyboard command and the channel selection buttons or knobs on the radio.

[offset]f

Select FM mode and set the BFO compensation. If no argument is given, report the current offset, but only if it is nonzero. This is the same function as the fm keyboard command.

[+... | -... | level]i

The function of this command depends on the argument format. If +..., increment the IF shift by 8 for each +; if -..., decrement it by 8 for each -. If level, adjust the IF shift to the value in the range -128 to 127. If no argument is given, report the current value. This is the same function as the shift keyboard command.

[offset]l

Select LSB mode and set the BFO compensation. If no argument is given, report the current offset, but only if it is nonzero. This is the same function as the lsb keyboard command.

[offset]m

Select AM mode and set the BFO compensation. If no argument is given, report the current offset, but only if it is nonzero. This is the same function as the am keyboard command.

[+... | -... | level]p (R8500)

The function of this command depends on the argument format. If +..., increment the APF frequency by 8 for each +; if -..., decrement it by 8 for each -. If level, adjust the APF frequency to the value in the range -128 to 127. If no argument is given, report the current value. This is the same function as the peak keyboard command.

Exit keypad mode and return to keyboard mode.

[+... | -... | level]s (R8500)

The function of this command depends on the argument format. If +..., increment the squelch level by 8 for each +; if -..., decrement it by 8 for each -. If level, set the squelch level to the value in the range 0 to 255. If no argument is given, report the current value. This is the same function as the squelch keyboard command, except that the auto format is not supported in keypad mode.

[step]t

Set the frequency tuning step used in keypad mode by the UP and DOWN keyboard arrow keys. The value temporarily replaces the previous value set by the keyboard mode rate command or keypad mode LEFT and RIGHT keyboard keys. If the argument is missing, report the current step value. This is the same function as the step keyboard command and the TS button on the radio.

[offset]u

Select USB mode and set the BFO compensation. If no argument is given, report the current offset, but only if it is nonzero. This is the same function as the usb keyboard command.

[+... | -... | level]v (R8500)

The function of this command depends on the argument format. If +..., increment the volume level by 8 for each +; if -..., decrement it by 8 for each -. If level, adjust the volume level to the value in the range 0 to 255. If no argument is given, report the current value. This is the same function as the vol keyboard command.

[channel]w

Write the memory channel with the contents of the VFO, mode and transmit duplex offset, if present. If the argument is missing, write the last channel selected. This is the same function as the write keyboard command and the WRITE button on the radio.

[channel]x

Clear the memory channel. If the argument is missing, clear the last channel selected. This is the same function as the clear keyboard command and the CLEAR button on the radio.

The following commands are available on Sun workstations.

g

Set the audio record gain in 16 levels from 0 to 15. This is the same function as the gain keyboard command.

o

Toggle the audio output between on and mute. This is the same function as the mute keyboard command.

p

Select the audio port 1 for microphone, 2 for line-in. This is the same function as the port keyboard command.
