Bio: Jean Hey
Master of Moulins
(Active 1480-1500)

The Master of Moulins was the great painter of Valois, France in the last part of the 15th century. The title "Master of Moulins" came from his triptych in the Catherdral of Moulins. He has now been identified as Jean Hey- an artist of Netherlandish Origin- possibly a student of Hugo van der Goes.

Other works attributed to him on stylistic grounds include "Nativity with Cardinal Rolin" (c.1480; Musee Rolin, Autun, France) and an Annunciation panel (c.1510; Art Institute of Chicago).
